Huge raise from Irish demand response company GridBeyond, which is great for the whole ecosystem. Within ~ 100km radius in Ireland, we have GridBeyond, VIOTAS, Enel X (EpiSensor!) and many other companies pushing the grid forward. Some of the things that have made Ireland a good place to develop these technologies are a forward-looking grid operator EirGrid Group, really high renewable penetration (> 85% at times), unusually high demand from data centres (~ 30% by 2030), low levels of interconnection with other grids (meaning we have to find balancing solutions ourselves), excellent universities and most decision makers are just a few clicks or phone calls away. As I've said consistently, accelerating the transition to renewable energy is now a communications problem - the fundamental technologies (solar, wind, battery storage) have gone through a 10x price reduction in the past decade - we just need to connect those distributed energy resources to the Internet. Our contribution is to build the most advanced and specialised IoT infrastructure we can to address that problem, enabling energy services companies to deploy to more sites and more assets, more quickly than they could with traditional systems - so distributed energy resources can do their thing at the right times to support the grid.

A fascinating read out of S&P, Although heavily weighted towards Asian markets (~46%) the next 10 years are going to be very, very busy indeed. -7400GW of net new renewables by 2035 -30% compounding growth in storage for the next 10 years -500GW of new gas-fired generation by 2035 -40% increase in investment in renewables, storage, and hydrogen over 2023 levels, growing to $ 775 billion annually.
