#AfricaWomenDay "An additional $12 trillion could be added to global GDP with greater female workforce participation—an impact too significant to overlook! Beyond the economic benefits, the social impact extends from individuals to families and communities. A great example of this positive change is the 'Sewing for All' project by our #ArtandCultureFoundation. Read more below to see how it's transforming lives and creating new opportunities!" Mitrelli Menomadin Foundation #womenpower #women #GenderEquality #CSR #WomenEntrepreneurship
The World Economic Forum estimates that advancing women's employment could add $12 trillion to global GDP and significantly boost African countries' economic output. The 'Sewing for All' initiative in the Ilha de Luanda community exemplifies this potential by empowering women with essential sewing and business skills. This project not only enhances women's economic participation but also reinvests 50% of the cooperative's sales into their salaries, with the remaining funds sustaining the initiative. On July 10th, the #ArtandCultureFoundation, Mitrelli's social responsibility unit, operated by the Menomadin Foundation, celebrated the achievements of this initiative with a ceremony at the Wyza Amphitheater. The event featured a vibrant fashion show where participants showcased garments they crafted, highlighting the skills they've acquired. We extend our gratitude to our partners, especially Hiroshi Yamamoto, General Manager at Textang II managed by ALCAAL GROUP, for attending the ceremony and supporting us in this journey. This initiative plays an important role example in providing women with necessary tools and opportunities for success, contributing to global goals for gender equality and economic and social development. Creating a self-sufficient community of entrepreneurs, 'Sewing for All' builds a supportive network that fosters financial independence and long-term growth. #AfricaWomenDay #Mitrelli #SewingForAll #WomenEmpowerment #LocalEntrepreneurship #GenderEquality #CSR #Angola #CommunityDevelopment @Menomadin #FundacaoArteeCultura

Did you catch the live session?🤭 As these women leaders alongside our founder Steffi Verna shared the realities of the Maputo Protocol in their countries in Africa since it was established 21 years ago, So far since the campaign began, we have looked at what the Maputo Protocol is and what it says: - African women control their fertility - Elimination of gender-based violence - Women's economic rights (Check previous posts for the posts breakdown) And we have a lot to go on. In regions where the scales are tipped against women because of traditions, conditions, etc., these laws still apply to them. It is our goal that as we continue educating on the rights and laws that support women's empowerment, We empower more women with the knowledge that enables them to be bold, confident, and free to do more and be more regardless of where they live.🧡💜💚💛❤️ #MaputoPourToutes #ClaimYourRights #MaputoForChange #GenderEquality #WomenRights #HumanRights

🇱🇦 So, why is #CEDAW so crucial for us, the #Women of #Laos? 🤔 1. ⚖️ Legal Framework: CEDAW provides a comprehensive framework for governments to follow, ensuring that women's rights are recognised and protected. By ratifying CEDAW, countries commit to taking actionable steps to improve the status of women. 2.👩💼Accountability: The treaty holds governments accountable for their actions (or inactions) regarding women's rights. This means that if the Lao government fails to address gender discrimination, they are answerable to the international community. 3.🗣️Truth-Telling: CEDAW powers women by promoting their participation in political, economic, and social life. For women in Laos, this means a chance to have a voice in decisions that affect their lives and communities. Despite these promises, the Lao government continues to ignore its obligations under CEDAW, often fabricating stories about its commitment to women’s rights. But don’t worry, as we prepare to present our very own CEDAW report, we’ll shine a light on these injustices and demand accountability. We refuse to let the government’s empty promises dictate our future! 🔗 Read our Joint CEDAW Report by scanning the QR code and help spread the word.
