So, I had quite the experience during a recent orientation with some new associates at my retail store, and I could really use your thoughts on it. 🤔 We had five new hires, and it was a hectic Friday (as usual). While most of the group was pumped and engaged, one girl clearly appeared uninterested from the get-go. During the orientation, I found out she fell asleep, which is pretty concerning! When I tried to address it, she insisted she wasn’t on her phone, but I had to explain how important the videos were. Unfortunately, my response wasn't the most tactful—I even compared drowsy driving to texting and driving (yikes!). 😬 In the end, we excused her from the orientation, and she left visibly upset, saying she didn’t want the job anymore. Fast forward a bit, and she’s back requesting a termination paper and even filed a formal complaint against me. Now, I’m second-guessing my approach. Should I be nervous? Here are my ...
