Adobe has taught me to play a test match with a strike rate of T20. My end goal is getting revenue. Usually, it takes time for new acquisition given the enterprise nature of the deal. But to acquire new clients, Adobe wants me to do my homework, EVERYDAY. I am doing Calls. Account based research. Partner Collaboration. Internal stakeholder management. There's a saying that people don't quit jobs, they quit a boss. The opposite is also true -- a great boss will keep a team together better than pretty much any other perk, even pay. So, let me tell you about my great boss, Tim McEvoy My first experience meeting Tim was a little under 3 years ago. I was interviewing for a role on a different team at Adobe and Tim was on the hiring panel along with several other folks. The role I was applying for was a mid-level design role, but Tim saw something in me and offered me a chance at a senior-level role based on what he heard from me in the interview panel. I remember feeling extremely hesitant about the opportunity -- was I ready? Would I embarrass myself? Would I fail? In sum, I didn't see the value I had. The thing about great bosses is that they can see your value even when you can't. Over the next few years, Tim has continued to vocalize my value to both other design leaders and cross-functional partners, and that has led to me having an amazing employee experience at Adobe: they've flown me out to conferences, invited me to speak at events and on podcasts, promoted me 2x in 2 years and they even gave me a cool award. None of this would be possible without a great boss. If you want a great boss, consider joining me on Tim's team.
