When I was recently contacted by the PRCA to recommit to our pledge on paying interns, it made me wonder: what sort of company does not pay interns? We have had a fully salaried intern recruitment position annually for more than a decade and have used this globally to bring in lots of interns to the business and to train them either to stay with us (great) or to move on in their careers. We've had the pleasure of paying interns to learn their trade with us, and have provided a great springboard for other businesses to benefit from the training we give our staff if they move on later. This is a win/win for us, for interns, for future employers. Why would anyone not pay a fair salary to somebody who is working for their organization? Personally I do not feel it is fair to ask anyone to work for our business without payment for their services. I guess when all companies pay, it will be more of a level paying field, but if companies continue not to pay, there is a continued expectation that this is about 'taking advantage'. We've employed a great cohort of interns over the years, and I would be embarrassed to have taken advantage of their wish to 'get on the ladder'. So The Scott Partnership Ltd has only ever paid its interns and will continue to do so into the future. #internships #intern #B2Bmarketing #B2BPR PRWeek

To those who have begun the search for summer interns, this is one of the first things I plan to share with my interns: I will scrutinize your work a lot harder than I would for an employee, because my goal is not to just get it done. My goal is to provide you an experience that makes you the best possible person at it. You will most likely get twice the criticism and accolades you would if you were a paid employee. That will taper off as you get better, but only as you get better. You will also be provided a list of the skills you acquire and how to articulate them on your resume when you apply.

FRIENDLY REMINDER: **ATTENTION YOUNG PURPLE KNIGHT GRADUATES** The summer of 2025 is quickly approaching, and Disney Advertising Media and St. Augustine High School will select their fourth professional internship cohort. This program continues to provide college-bound alumni a comprehensive orientation to multiple facets of the media industry. Disney’s competitive internship program has been vital in launching the careers of top media professionals. Through its relationship with St. Augustine, Disney’s mission is to provide access to education for diverse, aspiring young media professionals nationwide. The program will involve select departments of Disney Advertising Media, including Operations, Sales, Marketing, Partnership Activation Technology, Data Science Communications Production, Talent Relations, and more. During the program, students will learn industry insights from executives, managers at dynamic companies, and media professionals. They will understand how large companies operate, navigate those organizations, and explore new career interests. Selected participants will gain invaluable experience and opportunities for post-graduation employment. Disney Advertising Media will host a virtual information session with interested St. Augustine graduates on December 13, 2024, at 10 a.m. CST to kick off this summer's selection process.
