**OLD DOG, NEW TRICKS ALERT** 🐶. I've been taking a (virtual) course in #podcasting every Thursday night. Pretty intensive: developing an entire concept for a podcast, designing a logo, choosing music and SFX, interviewing, recording, editing. I won't come out of it as an expert by any means, especially on the technical side. But it feels great to apply my existing skills (interviewing + storytelling) in a whole new way, and to think about telling stories in a completely different way. 🎙

Which type of person are you: an automatic judger or an aware enquirer? That might seem a strange question to ask when the post is about pitch, but it's a relevant one. The automatic judge views things only through their lens, seeking to hear what they want to hear, not what is being communicated. The aware enquirer thinks first. They stop. They ask themselves WHAT they're hearing. They wonder if HOW they're hearing is holistic. English pitch is more than people's voices being loud and high pitched or soft and low pitched. It is a communicative cue card. Some people can pick it up easily. Some people find it more difficult. Some people can't pick it up at all. Those who can't need help and compassion from those who can. So ask yourself: which type of person am I when I listen? A judger or an enquirer? Then ask yourself if you might need to adjust. ***⁉️*** Tomorrow's podcast episode is a mini English pitch masterclass. Any questions? ***⁉️*** #communicationskills #publicspeaking #presentationskills
