Not to be outdone by OpenAI’s Sora announcement, Meta unveiled Movie Gen last week – its own #AI text-to-video creator. While Meta clearly states that it's merely “sharing research” (with an accompanying paper that's over 90 pages long!), the demo examples are worth checking out. The resolution of the clips is impressive and Meta claims that being able to create high-quality, 1080p HD videos of up to 16 seconds in different aspect ratios is an industry first. However, three other things really caught our attention: 🎶 The ability to generate synchronised audio, such as music and sound effects, which is something OpenAI hasn’t yet showcased with #Sora. For example, one of the examples showed a skateboarder with the sound of the wheels and trucks on concrete synced to the video. 🤠 Being able to edit existing videos with text inputs. For instance, very easily changing the background of a video or what someone is wearing. This could be a huge timesaver for CGI editors. 👨🚒 Creating personalised videos by using a person’s image and a text prompt to generate a video. While there are numerous use cases (such as using a fan's likeness and depicting them in the dugout of the team they support), there are also significant ethical issues to navigate, including copyright infringement and misinformation. It’s important to stress that much like Meta’s #Orion glasses, which have impressed people who have tried them, Movie Gen is far from being a finished product that’s available for widespread use. As of now, Meta is only sharing the model with a few chosen developers to begin refining the technology. It'll be interesting to see if Meta intends to make it a standalone generative model that anyone can use, or whether it’ll seek to leverage its huge user base and bake Movie Gen into its existing suite of products. If it’s the latter, think incorporating GenAI video into Instagram Reels or sharing customised videos with friends over WhatsApp. ----- Sports Loft is at the forefront of what’s new and possible in sports, media and entertainment. We've been guilty of favouritism, and we're sorry. SportsVision's first product was MatchVision, it's for that reason that we've probably underestimated the power of the rest of our services which bring far reaching benefits to our clients. First and foremost SportsVision is about content. We solve the challenge of always wanting or needing more. We automatically create lots & lots of it and make it quicker & easier for humans (we understand there's still some involved and it's not all AI) to make engaging and more granular content for other humans, really building on the nuance of sport. All a players passes, tackles etc would have been a chore, not worth it, SportsVision makes it worth it. Automatically updating player profiles with the video of their key action free’s up time to be more creative. SportsVision’s mission of helping to get every last penny of value from your content is "Front & Central" to what we do. We know we can make the lives of your content teams a lot better, as well as your fans. With our routes to market we are helping you to bring new & existing fans to your content on your platforms. Get in touch and we promise not just to show off MatchVision, we'll show you the whole solution. Wolverhampton Wanderers Club Brugge Stats Perform #fanengagement #sportbiz #sportsvid #sportscontent

It was pretty awesome to see The Wall Street Journal's CMO Today Newsletter (led by Nat Ives) share VentureBeat's article on Topgolf's foray into Fortnite. Rachel Kaser (author) and the omnipresent Dean Takahashi have shaped themselves into THE PLACE for information at the intersection of brands and digital environments (sometimes Web3). It seems to me that VentureBeat's success in covering these verticals is partially due to the ad/marketing trades not grabbing these stories (or writing about Web 2.0 strategies in digital environments that simply don't work). Would love to see the latter take more time to look forward to what's next in Web3, instead of projecting what seems to be stories that emerge from an overly chummy relationship with holding companies (just more lame, top down, somewhat antiquated strategies). While it's to be lauded that VentureBeat is leading the way in these areas, don't fool yourself, it's a gap left open by everyone else in media. https://lnkd.in/gCheZXJH

As much as I admit that I don't know all the intricacies of sport broadcasting contracts, and which rights they will be able to hold onto long-term, I'm finding it hard to see how this would fail. Bringing the fan experience from almost any venue in the world, to your local city, while occupying a fractional footprint compared to another full-service sports venue, within a major urban environment seems like a win-win. Again, I don't know all the details, but from what I'm seeing, I'll predict that this will surpass the E-Sports craze in adoption and profitability with ease. https://lnkd.in/e3JnaRcm
