Even the greatest leaders face challenges. In the 1995 NBA Playoffs, Michael Jordan criticized his teammates for asking too much of him. This moment offers a valuable lesson in teamwork, leadership, and managing expectations under pressure. 🏀 #Leadership #MichaelJordan #Teamwork ➡️ : https://lnkd.in/gAzuwf_u

As the NBA playoffs tip-off, the high-stakes environment brings out the best in athletes and coaches. Based on my experience, there are interesting similarities between leading teams in sports and in the corporate world. Successful coaches are masters of adaptability under pressure, empowering player leadership, and maintaining composure. These same skills are crucial in the corporate setting, where nimble, responsive leadership is key. Empowering employees at all levels to take ownership and contribute ideas is equally important. And, staying focused and maintaining composure in the face of adversity is a hallmark of great leadership. By embracing these principles, we can elevate our own teams to new heights of success. #leadership #highperformingteams #productmarketing #nba

Another year, another fantasy football draft with my kiddo and his boys. It’s always a highlight of the year and brings a reminder that football is full of life lessons. Case in point: Tom Brady’s recent piece in Inc where he asks, 'Do you want to be a star or a champion?' (Link is in the comments if you’re interested.) It's a question that hits home, not just for football, but for leadership too. Brady’s career shows that true leadership is about putting the team first. Whether you’re on the field, in the boardroom, or drafting players, the lesson’s the same: champions play for the team, not their own glory. #Leadership

I didn’t wear my Vikings hat, flannel and listen to the game today while deep cleaning the chicken coop because I’m a Vikings fan. At least not a fan like one might consider someone to be who wears a team’s hat and follows their games. I’m a fan of the people I have gotten to know who happen to currently play for the Vikings. I’m a fan of organizations that value leadership development beyond checking the box. And that has been the Vikings. I’m a fan of teams whose directors, coaches and owners allow a woman to speak to their players on leadership- and that has been the Vikings. I’m a fan of people who are willing to do the hard work that leadership requires, who don’t settle for mediocrity, who even when they are great at something seek coaching to become better- content with themselves AND always looking to raise their personal bar of excellence. The Vikings have many such people on and off the field. I’m a fan of leaders who handle adversity with compassion and strength. Those who understand the importance of building a team of leaders. I have seen that with the Vikings. Today the Vikings players wore helmet stickers to honor rookie Khyree Jackson who died in a car accident this summer. One of my favorite moments during a presentation involved Khyree, he gave me the gift of laughter and a story. And I will do my part in honoring his memory by including his story in my future talks to players. (More on that trip in a post later this week.) I am no more a fan of the Vikings than I am of other teams who fit that criteria. Including the Giants who they played today who have some incredible leaders on and off the field. I’m a fan of the person, not the jersey. Vince Lombardi knew a thing or two about team work. His Green Bay Packers' success revolutionised American Football, establishing the game for the modern era. He also didn't have access to all the best players, or the most money. In my view, that's a great indicator of being an effective manager and leader. Manager because it is effective resource deployment and optimising performance Leadership because it is aspirational, encouraging a team to give of its best. Would you agree? #quote #lombardi #managementskills #leadership #leadershipdevelopment

When it comes to sales performance, what is it that separates the "good" from "great"? As we end Q1 of 2024, I've been reflecting on a thought shared by one of my leaders just a few weeks ago, which I've since passed down to my leadership team. When asked how he'd turn a struggling football organization around, the great Vince Lombardi said; "We will concentrate on becoming brilliant at the basics." That's it. More often than not, it's remembering the basics. Far too often we overcomplicate things thinking it's the "trick plays" that win games, when really it's the consistent execution of fundamentals. Cheers to a successful Q1, and beginning of a new quarter!! 🍻 #SalesExcellence #CreateGrowth #MastersOfOurCraft

🚀 Exciting Night at the Panthers Game! 🚀 Last night, I had the thrill of watching the Panthers in action. The team came out with incredible energy, but, unfortunately, the game didn’t turn out as we fans or the team had hoped. As a leader, I always look for lessons in every experience. Last night was a powerful reminder that momentum is real and you need it. One key lesson I emphasize to my team is to maintain balance: don't get too high from wins or too low from losses. Whether we win or lose, we take 24 hours to celebrate or mourn. After that, it's back to prepping for the next win – be it for our clients or the game. 🔍 What lessons did you take away from last night? #Leadership #Momentum #Teamwork #LessonsLearned #PanthersGame
