🚲 How you beat Tadej Pogacar is a question vexing many pro teams and Cycling strategists in the European off-season, as they begin preparations for 2025 - In this Cyclist article 👇 the answers seem to be: - Hope that he's tired - Get lucky 🧑🏫 Over the past few years he has beaten the strongest Dutch, Belgian, Spanish and other young Slovenian and Swiss riders out there, but he's never really been tested against another type of threat - an overweight, middle-aged English teacher So I decided to use my vast experience, as an English teacher, to work out a way to beat the world's finest rider, and here are my suggestions: 🚲 At 10pm he night before the queen stage of a GT, send him a 10,000-word assignment on the relevant performance advantages of the top 10 WorldTour teams' bikes - due at 09:00h the following morning - he should arrive at the starting line already exhausted 🚲 When reaching the top of the penultimate mountain pass of the day, give him an 'F' and tell him to go back down and ride it again - and do it properly this time - hopefully that will add another hour to his overall time 🚲 Give UAE a surprise 30-minute English test in the final 50kms of the stage, and make them stay later for cheating if anyone uses their race radio for outside help 🧑🏫 Honestly, given the extent of his domination I'm genuinely surprised no-one has reached out before, maybe you're all looking at it from the wrong angle - Please feel free to share your own 'helpful' tips on how to beat the world's best in the comments below 👇 👇 👇 ------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm a Business English coach for Bike Industry professionals and a lifelong Bike fan, probably not going to become a racing coach though. Netherlands is practicing the goals of the EU Cycling declaration which asks for inklusive and non discriminatory access to cycling. But still the Netherlands are not spearheading the move to a better legislative framework which would allow to make better products which will allow inklusive pedelecs and pedelecs for senior citizens. Companies like VanRaam and Huka are hindered by the current legal frameworks to make the best products as they would be technically possible.
