⚠️ The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a stern warning to food business operators (FBOs) against adding non-standardized ingredients to fruit juices. This warning was issued through an advisory dated July 31, 2024. The advisory highlights the concern over the use of ingredients like ‘Deionized apple juice concentrate’, which is not permitted under the Food Safety and Standards Regulations. FBOs have been directed to obtain approval for such non-specified food ingredients under the FSS (Approval for Non-Specific Food and Food Ingredients) Regulation, 2017. Additionally, all claims made on product labels and advertisements must adhere to the FSS (Advertising & Claims) Regulations, 2018 and FSS (Labelling & Display) Regulations, 2020. The FSSAI has emphasized strict compliance with these regulations to ensure the safety and quality of fruit juices consumed by the public. #Food Safety and Standards Authority of India #FSSAI #warning #food business operators #non-standardized #ingredients #fruit juices #advisory #apple juice concentrate #Regulation #claims #product #labels #strict #compliance #safety #quality #fruit juices

Ensuring Food Safety Over the past two years, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has rejected over 1,550 food products for failing to meet safety standards. In FY 2022-23 alone, 1,000 items, including cheese, almonds, milk products, whiskey, dates, apples, coffee, seafood, and chocolates, were flagged. An additional 550 products faced rejection in FY 2023-24. While Indian food items like whole and powdered spices have faced scrutiny for chemical contamination, our Department of Commerce is proactively addressing these concerns by compiling a list of rejected countries and food items to guide future regulatory measures. This highlights the importance of rigorous checks to protect consumers, even from products originating in countries with strict safety regulations. Kudos to FSSAI for its diligent efforts in keeping our food supply safe! #FoodSafety #FSSAI #HealthFirst #ConsumerProtection

Recently, there have been multiple instances of liquid nitrogen being employed to enhance the visual appeal and theatrical presentation of food items like ice creams, cocktails, meetha pan, biscuits, and desserts. However, the direct consumption of these nitrogen-infused foods has resulted in severe health issues and injuries.
