We were celebrating an anniversary in the office today and one of the team said I had been an inspiration over the last 12 months. I wasn't expecting that, it was lovely to get the feedback. I took this photo on holiday the other week and it got me thinking about how we inspire others, but more importantly, how do we move forward and inspire ourselves. Imagine you're standing on the shore, the place where you've always been. The sand beneath your feet represents your old self—familiar, comfortable, but limited to this small stretch of beach. The waves lap at your ankles, inviting but also uncertain. The ocean before you is vast and unknown, a symbol of potential, change, and discovery. You step into a small boat, pushing off from the shore. As the distance between you and the land grows, you leave behind all that was safe but stagnant. The shore fades into the distance, like the version of yourself you’ve outgrown. You’ve let go of the stability you once clung to, trading it for the endless horizon. Out on the open water, the journey isn't always smooth. The sea is unpredictable, like the uncertainties and fears you face in the process of transformation. There are moments of calm, where you feel the peace of aligning with something new, and moments of storm, when you doubt or struggle against the waves. But as you continue sailing, the horizon ahead becomes clearer. You begin to trust the journey, feeling the wind in your sails, carrying you toward a version of yourself that has yet to fully reveal itself. You no longer look back to the shore; the pull of the unknown future is stronger than the past you've left behind. Eventually, you see a new shore, representing the discovery of your new self— a place that holds different possibilities, growth, and deeper meaning. The person stepping out of the boat on this new land is not the same one who left the shore behind. Interesting thought to ponder, maybe it is time to find your boat!

It was so special to celebrate our 10th birthday with clients, past and present D&Co folks, and their families. We had a blast dusting off the BBQ, diving into DJ BBQ's Ultimate Burgers, savouring Julian's amazing cocktails, enjoying Jeremy on the decks, and playing some fun garden games. Reflecting on this incredible journey, we captured it all in a newspaper-style tabloid doc - reminiscing about the early days and the nerve-wracking decision to go out on my own. That choice meant turning down a significant earn-in directorship with one of Australasia's best independent brand agencies. But we’ve never looked back. I’m so proud of what we’ve built and continue to build at D&Co. We’ve created a business where everyone works to the beat of their own drum. There’s no office politics, very few late nights, no weekend work - thanks very much! We’re there for the school pickups, we kiteboard, surf, or golf when we can. We have fun, we give back, and we do good. It’s incredibly rewarding, and I absolutely love it. Of course, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. We’ve had to navigate some challenging times, but here we are - having fun and delivering incredible work for businesses big and small. Here’s to the next 10 years! Sarah and I arrived at the hotel. I am giving a keynote address on the success principles that empower individuals and organizations to take their journey from great to extraordinary. The staff at the Westin blew us away with their hospitality and aloha. They gave us our keys and sent us on our way. It took us a minute to find the room and when we did, it was marvelous! They gave us the presidential penthouse suite. (Here’s a little tour...) As a guy who studies the common traits of extraordinary behavior and achievement, one of the traits I admire most is the joy of living between simplicity and extravagance. As many of you know I started my journey living in a Volkswagen Bus, eating food off my Coleman stove and now living in a tiny home on an organic farm. It is incredibly fulfilling bouncing between these two realities. Having spent time with some of the most successful and wealthy people on this planet, those that can afford and buy all the luxuries one can imagine, I have seen first hand how happy they are with nothing. I know, you’re probably saying, “That’s easy for them, they have everything.” But I can assure that they didn’t always have everything. In fact, many of the truly great visionaries, pioneers and leaders of industry, came from nothing, so they had nothing to lose. They began their journeys from humble beginnings. I have always believed if one can be grateful with little they can be rewarded with a lot. Besides, life is fickle and we never know what’s around the next corner. So appreciate what you have and always make the best of where you are. Today we’re balling in our suite and in a couple of days, we’ll be back at the farm and I’ll be helping Sarah gather cow poop in buckets to fertilize the garden. Today, I'm lucky enough to celebrate another birthday: we've made it to level 33! 32 was a fantastic year: I joined the PureCars team, experienced both personal and professional growth, and achieved so many of the goals I wanted to knock out in the year. There were so many lessons I learned at 32, but here are just a few that stood out: 1.) Recognize and Proactively Fight Burnout: Communicate when you're approaching burnout and work with your team and managers--candid, honest and respectful conversations tend to lead to stronger trust within your teams. 2.) Re-evaluate how you prioritize your to-do's: I had a bit of a process spring cleaning last year: in a world where everything needs to be done 5 minutes ago, revisit what's actually considered an emergency and what can be project-managed out. You'll save your sanity and prevent the dreaded 13/14 hour days. 3.) Don't leave friends and family on the back burner: We've got one life to live, spend it with those who care about you: work smart during the day, so that you can enjoy the quality time with loved ones after. Here's to another year of progress, growth and adventures in The Windy City!
