IS IT TIME TO BURST THE LONDON BUBBLE? Did you know that just 13% of the UK population lives in London, but a massive 43% of PR pros work in the capital? Mad when you think about it isn’t it… especially when PR agencies outside London offer brands a far more representative view of their customers than a London agency. Which is why Brazen PR has commissioned its Mind the Gap report to shine a light on the disconnection of London PRs to the rest of the country, after recently being named Best PR Agency Outside of London, by PR Week in 2023. The report which I’ve linked below has some eye-opening stats and as a PR professional from Liverpool who worked in London for almost a year, lots of it certainly resonates. I was the token Northerner in an office full of Londoners, and yes, all our client work was national/London based, with some even outsourcing ‘regional’ PR to other agencies – surely London itself is a region? Brazen’s report is not calling out London agencies, as the capital is home to some of the UK’s brightest agencies, but it is instead asking brands and marketers to re-think their approach to hiring agencies. Brands should look beyond location and an over reliance on capital-based agencies and select an agency based on experience and people rather than postcode. But don’t just take my word for it grab a cuppa and give the report a read https://lnkd.in/d3MSKbjZ

Public Relations, Public Affairs, Strategic Communications, and Government Relations – What’s the difference ? After more than two decades in the field, I’ve seen how these areas can overlap, but each requires a unique approach. To make it easier to understand, I’m simplifying these definitions with some examples from my journey. Public Relations (PR) is about managing perceptions and telling the right story. During the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the UAE and Oman, in the middle of a pandemic, our challenge was to promote the tournament despite limited crowds. We had to ensure fans worldwide felt the excitement digitally. PR is all about adapting, managing risks, and ensuring the brand remains strong, even under tough conditions. Public Affairs (PA) involves working with governments to influence policy and secure necessary approvals. At the ICC, we collaborated with various governments to ensure international tournaments ran smoothly, proving that cricket was more than just a game—it was a vital cultural and economic event. It’s similar to how companies like Airbnb work with local governments to navigate regulations while ensuring their business benefits local economies. Strategic Communications is all about the long-term vision. When we launched the ICC 100% Cricket Future Leaders programme in 2021, it wasn’t just about making headlines—it was about creating a programme and crafting a narrative that would inspire women in sports leadership for years to come. It gave female leaders the boost they needed to grow in their leadership journey in cricket. Government Relations is about direct collaboration with government bodies. A great example is the partnership between Star India and the Indian government for Khelo India. We worked closely with the Union Minister of Sports, the Sports Authority of India (SAI), and other key government bodies to promote grassroots sports development across the country. It wasn’t just about media; it was about securing long-term policy support to make sure the initiative had real impact. Similar to how large corporations engage with governments to shape regulations, this partnership ensured our goals aligned with national priorities. So, whether you’re managing media narratives, working with policymakers, or developing long-term strategies, each area requires a unique approach. At GOOD DAY PR & Strategic Communications FZ LLC, we specialise in crafting tailored strategies across these areas. Whether it’s navigating government regulations, managing a brand’s reputation, or building long-term narratives, we ensure your communication goals hit the mark, every time. Ready to take your communications strategy to the next level? Reach out, and let’s create something impactful together! #PublicRelations #StrategicCommunications #PublicAffairs #GovernmentRelations #GoodDayPR

Mastering Public Relations in Central Asia: Harmonising Tradition, Innovation, and Influence Central Asia's public relations landscape presents a unique blend of challenges and opportunities. This dynamic region, rich in history and keen on modernisation, requires a PR strategy that harmonises tradition with progress – and only a strategy like this will do. To succeed, professionals must focus on several key elements. Cultural sensitivity is paramount. Messages resonate significantly when they align with traditional values like family, respect, and community. Successful PR campaigns must be deeply aligned with these values to foster trust and cultural connection. It is essential to have effective government relations. Governments in Central Asia have a significant impact on business and media. It is essential to build trust with officials and ensure that PR messaging aligns with national priorities if you want to navigate regulatory landscapes and achieve meaningful outcomes. Multilingual Strategies: PR professionals must tailor communications to reach multiple audiences in the region, which has a rich linguistic diversity. This includes local languages, Russian, and English, to ensure maximum cultural and regional engagement. The media landscape is evolving. Central Asia is moving away from paid media placements and towards organic coverage. Securing unpaid media placements is a simple matter of cultivating strong relationships with journalists. When PR professionals do this, they can focus on what matters most: authentic storytelling that emphasises relevance over financial transactions. Networking and personal connections are essential. In Central Asia, personal relationships and face-to-face interactions are the keys to success. You must maintain consistent communication with key journalists to build trust and secure earned media coverage and greater visibility for your business. It is crucial to engage with young people. PR strategies must adapt to the digital-first mindset while respecting cultural heritage, especially as the tech-savvy youth population continues to grow. Campaigns that balance tradition and innovation are the most effective for this demographic. To navigate Central Asia's complex media landscape, you must have a deep understanding of cultural nuances and a forward-thinking approach. Blend traditional values with modern strategies to forge meaningful connections and drive impactful change in this evolving region. Build relationships and deliver value-driven content to thrive.
