The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, and the Arts (DITRDCA) has launched the Drone Rules Map, which presents approximately 7,600 distinct restricted areas from 15 government agencies across Australia. With the dramatic rise in interest and usage of government, commercial, and recreational drone technologies over the past decade, there is a growing need for individuals and organisations to be aware of environmental and security restrictions that may apply to drone-related flight activities. Spatial Vision enhanced the accuracy of corrections facilities and the management of drone rule boundaries and attributes. Our solution integrated all relevant departmental data and fly-rule restrictions into a single authoritative point-of-truth database. Read the full case study here: https://bit.ly/41mqIJI

Drone surveys are renowned for their accuracy, but how precise can they truly be? Ely Aerial Imaging’s latest article explores this question by comparing two key technologies: RTK GPS and Ground Control Points (GCPs). The piece highlights how both methods deliver exceptional accuracy for land surveys, construction projects, and environmental monitoring. Understanding the strengths of each technology can help in choosing the right solution for your project’s needs. #DroneSurveying #GeospatialData #RTKGPS #GroundControlPoints #AerialMapping #SurveyingTech #Construction #EnvironmentalMonitoring https://lnkd.in/ePhisUjt

Drone technology can be used to take structural measurements of rock masses. These measurements can then be used for kinematic analysis of a rock slope. This image shows the different rock surfaces identified during a recent drone survey on a cliff failure. The colours represent populations of these surfaces with similar geometries. Although an apron of failed material obscured the centre, you can see the left is predominantly green and the right is predominantly red. Where these two populations meet was the centre of the cliff failure which experienced the most regression. This is a useful tool for sites where there are access constraints, safety concerns, or where additional data is needed.
We have recently invested in new technology to help us better map rock masses. As a result, we are now able to remote aerial surveys by drone and use the photogrammetry to map the planar features in a rock mass. The manual information gathered close to the landslip identified around 250 measurements in a 4 hour period, verses around 4000 measurements in a 10 minute drone flight! There are advantages to both methods, but we believe that they compliment each other well! If you have a slope that you requires a thorough risk assessment, why not let us know and we can demonstrate the technology! #slopestability #rockmechanics #clifffall #landslip #landslide #landslides #coastalresilience #coastalregression #cornwall #coastalsurvey #coastalsurveycornwall #cliffsurvey #geotechnicalsurvey #drone #dronemapping

The battle over U.S. airspace is a fight for more than technological progress—it is a fight for property rights, local autonomy, and economic equity. Systems like Vantis, while innovative, risk eroding these values by imposing federal control over private airspace. In contrast, state-managed drone highways offer a decentralized alternative that respects landowners’ rights, fosters local innovation, and promotes economic empowerment. The skies, like the land below them, belong to the people. By embracing a decentralized framework, we can ensure that drone technology serves as a tool of progress and equity rather than a mechanism of control. The time to act is now—before the rigid corridors of federal oversight overshadow the rights of those who live and work beneath them. 🇺🇸

WINGTRA GEN II A mapping drone for fast and accurate surveying data every time! With a surveying drone, it is possible to carry out topographic surveys of the same quality as the highly accurate measurements collected by traditional methods, but in a fraction of the time. This substantially reduces the cost of a site survey and the workload of specialists in the field.
