Happy birthday to RADM Grace Hopper! RADM Hopper, namesake of #DamNeckActivity's facility, had a long career which spanned from 1943 to her retirement in 1986. Her accomplishments, to include the programming of the first large scale computer and being named Computer Sciences "Man-of-the-Year" by the Data Processing Management Association, were foundational to the work of our military today. #USNavy #NAVSEA #nswcdddna #ItsInOurDNA

What can RTHP do for you?
Colleagues and Partners – We’re nearly halfway through 2024 Workforce Planning goals and many are in the beginning stages to prepare for 2025. To stay on track now, or for next year’s plan, have you thought about the HUGE upside of integrating the military-connected community into your plans? If the goal is to achieve the best workforce possible within timelines and budget, you should include a military component. Why? One set of steps to explain why can be found at the Harvard Business School Online: 1. Purpose-Driven. Surveys show military-connected people tend to be more loyal and more service- or organizationally-oriented. They are team players, who know how to carry out their individual responsibilities, and they have a track record to prove it. 2. Long-Term and Forward-Focused. By establishing relationships with military-connected people, and building pipelines to them, you are guaranteed to have roughly 400 new Veterans every business day as potential employees. See #1 for their attributes. 3. Actionable. By understanding the military community and building these pipelines, you can develop access to the type of people with the exact skill sets you require – immediately – and you can forecast 6-9 months out for some of them to intern with you at a net zero cost. 4. Measurable. You can measure both objectively through reduced Talent Acquisition costs, elimination of most hiring risk, increased talent levels as measured by credentials and certificates, while measuring subjectively the influence of company culture and burnishing the company brand. Quote of the day at #SOFWeek goes to Jeremy Werner, Ph.D. on the Leveraging Academic Expertise panel: "It's prime time for a renaissance in military operational research." 🔥 We're here for it! A recurring theme from the panel was connections. How can the government see and connect with all the amazing R&D out there? How can innovators in academia find the right government champion and bridge their technology? We say the answer is #data. What do you think?

The Navy's chief information office is refining its process for identifying and piloting emerging technologies to support both current and future operations, according to a draft document obtained by DefenseScoop. To drive digital transformation, the Navy is formalizing a new "structured piloting approach framework." This approach, derived from agile-centered design concepts (ACDCs), is designed to accelerate the adoption of new IT solutions and phase out outdated systems. The framework builds on earlier concepts, including World Class Alignment Metrics (WAM), which aligns technology investments with mission outcomes, and Investment Horizons, which helps visualize innovation and divestment strategies. The structured piloting approach is intended to speed up the Navy's evaluation and adoption of new technologies, reducing duplication and enabling smoother scaling. #navy #technology #digitaltransformation #innovation #agile #emergingtechnologies #informationtechnology #it #framework #defense Source- https://lnkd.in/gxSKTm3y

🚨 What a rush! We just wrapped up two jam-packed days of government and industry diving deep into the latest tech during our ‘Enhanced Situational Awareness’ Solutions Meeting.🚨 🙏 A huge thanks to our government partners who turned out in overwhelming force.🙏 In addition to our lead partners from U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC), Army ISR Task Force, and the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab (MCWL), there was a host of 45 gov't reps including I MEF, several SOF entities, HQMC G9, multiple Army DEVCOM groups, Office of Naval Research Global (ONR Global), U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, NIWC, JPEO CBRNE, Southwest Mission Acceleration Center (MAC), Army ICOE, AFRL, DARPA, SpaceWERX, DoD Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office, OSD Trusted AI and Autonomy, OSD Future 5G, OUSD I&S, Air Force OCEA, APFIT, DHS, CBP, and the Department of Commerce. It was inspiring to see so many gov’t folks engaging with thoughtful questions and providing insight. 🙏 I want to thank all the innovators who invested their precious time and participated. The threat may be growing daily, but two days surrounded by you experts gives me new confidence. Your work presents ingenious ways for ensuring that our Service members can quickly identify threats, operate in contested environments, and ensure the right information is available to inform impactful decisions. Thank you for making us your mission. 🙏 For the first time we also invited private investment firms and small business advisors. We greatly appreciate you helping ensure that we’re not only advancing novel tech, but also the innovators coming up with them. 🎉 A special shout out to MITRE for providing a great venue and being such a flexible and supportive host, while cat-herding more than 100 of us! Excellent as always. ✉ As much as I’d love to say we solved all the DoD’s problems in two days, there are many other challenges. I&M knows that innovators out there are already working on the answers, and we’ll continue to lead outreach efforts to help identify those solutions. If you’d like to learn more about future Solutions Meetings and other I&M events, message me to join our distro list. #ThisIsTheWay #DefenseInnovation #SBIR #STTR #CDAO #AUKUS
