The most successful business leaders listen. Ten years ago today, I was honoured to have a quiet glass or two with wine icon Don Triggs of Jackson-Triggs & Culmina fame. Just me, Don and my young son (G had juice). Don asked for my honest opinions of his new wines. We talked and discussed. He didn't care that I wasn't a wine expert. Despite building a wine empire, being a noted Canadian business leader and influencing others getting into his industry and others, he wanted to hear my opinions. Class. Leadership. Success. #wine #leadership #business #communications

One of the questions we like to ask in team workshops is, "If leadership was a dance move, what dance move would it be?" 🤔😎 The team at Avanti Restaurant Solutions not only showed us what that dance would look like, they allowed us to record it. And, now we get to show all of you. 🙌 Enjoy. 😂😂😂 Oh, Avanti. We love you. ❤️ #LeadershipDevelopment #TeamWorkshops #AvantiRestaurantSolutions

Leading a restaurant chain isn't just about managing day-to-day operations—it's about inspiring and guiding my team to create the best experience for our customers. At Sigdi, I believe in staying hands-on and constantly learning. Over time, I’ve learned that to foster leadership within my team, I need to get involved with all my team members. I make it a point to help them grow in every aspect of our operations. Whether it’s the chefs in the kitchen or the waitstaff interacting with customers, everyone plays a key role in creating the Sigdi experience. I even step up to help at the bill counter with the cashier, ensuring that I’m available to assist wherever needed. I personally oversee stock and inventory, making sure everything runs smoothly. By staying close to my team and empowering them, I ensure they are clear about their responsibilities and passionate about their work. What’s your approach to leadership? #Leadership #HospitalityBusiness #Teamwork #Sigdi"

In a few weeks’ time I will be interviewing one of Australia’s highest profiled chefs and restaurateurs - Neil Perry. Neil has been a leader and pioneer in the Australian food landscape for decades. As a young apprentice, I always admired the quality, standards and level at which he led his hospitality operations. So I am really curious to know - what would you like to know? If you had access to a world class operator – what questions would you ask? What are your current challenges? Where could I guide the conversation to bring out the best insights, stories, failures or wins to help you in your business? Over to you! #mindfood #leadership #development #training Foodservice Australia

Brigades, food & Leadership Ever since I watched the series " The Bear", I was hooked. It was not fully because of the sensationalism that comes with show but for something i did not quite understand quite off the bat. Turns out it has something to do with leadership. I do believe that leadership can be carried out by individuals that the "typical" leadership definition might not apply to (aka not a CEO or a manager etc.). You see, Brigades like the one in "The Bear" and high-end restaurants are a little different. Or are they? "Kitchen brigades are characterized by a strict division of labour and responsibility....". Brigades usually are represented in the hierarchal formation which means leadership is top-down. But what happens when there are high or peak levels of pressure from the physical and social environment? An emergence of plural leadership (collaborative leadership) occurs within that hierarchy/Brigade transforming the usual ways of "working together during the most critical moments of an unfolding situation". Who knew leadership and food can go hand-in-hand! Thank you Josée Lortie, Laure Cabantous and Cyrille Sardais for this phenomenal piece of work! Find the article here: https://lnkd.in/e9mV8WuE
