A sharply focused piece from Yuko Mukai in The Japan News (THE YOMIURI SHIMBUN) examining the possible motives behind the unprecedented violation of Japanese airspace over Danjo Islands in late August by a Chinese military aircraft during a politically sensitive time in Japanese and US politics—and how it is likely a prelude to further provocative acts. What can the EU & Japan do with India to contain Chinese revisionism in the Indo-Pacific? Here are my views: The Indo-Pacific must be considered as a maritime AND land theatre of operations. The West sees it from a maritime dimension only. What can be done is a 4 point recommendation: * Fragment Chinese power by creating a binary split both horizontal & vertical. * Raise their Defense Budgets to free the US to focus on Indo-Pacific. * Sea-denial by limiting the PLA Navy maritime manoeuvre space around the globe. * Increase land based exercises with the Indian Defence Forces to understand PLA land forces, esp those operating in areas bordering the CARs. For more details read the report published by ISDP, Sweden. Thank you, Dr Jagannath Panda & ISDP, Sweden for this opportunity Here is the link.... isdp.eu/publication/re…
