Multi-Million Dollar Overhaul to Reimagine Brisbane’s Iconic Paddo Tavern! The Paddington Tavern, a beloved landmark on Given Terrace since the 1980s, is set to undergo a significant transformation. With the upcoming 2032 Olympics and 2027 Rugby World Cup on the horizon, the tavern will soon feature a contemporary, four-storey design to meet the needs of Brisbane’s growing events scene. Craig W Chandler Architecture & Interior Design has been selected to lead the redesign, blending new architectural elements with the site’s original structure for a sustainable, cost-effective build. The redevelopment will add three new function rooms, a 480 sqm breakout area, and a spacious 303 sqm bar/lounge, all thoughtfully designed to elevate the tavern’s position as a key event destination. With subtropical outdoor spaces and a planned “green wall” facade along Campbell Street, the revamped Paddo Tavern aims to be a vibrant and inviting venue for locals and visitors alike. Notably, the iconic Sit Down Comedy Club venue will remain intact, preserving the charm that locals love. Accessibility improvements, including a new lift and escalators, ensure the tavern is ready to host a diverse range of gatherings in a more versatile setting. Nestled between the vibrancy of the City and the creativity of East London, Alma is British Land's inaugural Build-to-Rent development, creating new opportunities to live, work, and play in the heart of Aldgate. With 159 luxury apartments, flexible workspaces, and vibrant leisure areas, the project was designed to reflect the area’s character while prioritising design excellence and sustainable practices that respect both people and the environment.   Our Living team collaborated with British Land, Woods Bagot, and operator Native Communities to deliver comprehensive FF&E services from concept to completion. This included designing, sourcing, and installing high-quality furniture and accessories for the apartments and social spaces, with a focus on timeless design, responsible sourcing, and sensitivity to the local community.   In response to the complex FF&E brief – encompassing functionality, sustainability, community context, and materiality – we developed predominantly bespoke furniture, perfectly tailored to Alma’s specific needs.
