In our next instalment of ‘We are SMHS’ we bring you Head of Catering at Fremantle Hospital – Pierre Moore! Leading a mighty catering team focused on giving patients the best possible meal experience, Pierre understands the important role food can play in our patients’ recovery. That’s why he strives to create meals that make them feel at home through quality, healthy and comforting food – we’re talking fresh salads, roasts, sandwiches, tasty desserts, and more 🍎🥗 Beginning his chef apprenticeship at just 14, Pierre was inspired by his mother who loved to cook and brother who is also a chef. “I love working with food, it makes us not only healthier, but happier” Pierre said. “I find cooking to be a wonderful outlet for creativity. Experimenting with flavours, textures, and presentations can be incredibly fulfilling.” We’re so proud to have individuals like Pierre in our workforce. Together, we are SMHS 💜

chef vs cook : A chef is a professional cook who has undergone training and often works in a restaurant or other food service establishment. They typically have expertise in culinary arts and may oversee kitchen operations. The main differences between a chef and a cook lie in their training, skill level, and responsibilities. Chefs usually have formal culinary education and training, while cooks may learn through experience or informal apprenticeships. Chefs often have more advanced cooking techniques and creative abilities, while cooks may specialize in specific tasks or cuisines. Chefs typically have leadership roles in the kitchen, overseeing menu planning, recipe development, and managing kitchen staff. Cooks may assist chefs with food preparation and cooking but may have less authority and decision-making power. In summary, chefs are professional cooks with advanced training and expertise who often have leadership roles in the kitchen, while cooks may have less formal training and responsibilities.

Title of my Post : #TheWaiterEncouragmentToSelf The quality of service you receive at a restaurant impacts the quality of the work done. Customers may not notice the service at times, but this doesn’t mean it should not be provided adequately. You receive excellent service when the server is enthusiastic about his or her current profession and is properly compensated for it. In whatever you find yourself doing, professionally or temporarily, make every effort to learn and love it. In every role you find yourself in, always consider how you may better yourself and set your sights higher than where you were. it will not be easy in the beginning but with your eagerness to learn, doing researches about your insdustry and consistent practicing it would definitely connect and most importantly #KnowYourWorthWithoutPridingYourself
