For 17 years, the annual SOCAP Global conference has served as one of the world’s largest convenings for the impact ecosystem. Among this year’s attendees were several members of the Sorenson Impact community. We joined the event as speakers, hosts, volunteers, and participants eager to learn from and connect with fellow changemakers dedicated to making a difference. 💬💡 Following #SOCAP24, we invited members of our team to share their experiences and learnings. Take a look at their insights and explore examples of the work the Sorenson Impact community is driving to advance these trends: https://lnkd.in/gCPpVjv3

SOCAP Global's unique purpose to serve an ever-growing community of impact financiers often means that we need to take the longer road to ensure we are weaving the right threads to serve that community. In the case of #SOCAPOpen, which accounts for 1/3 of our content, organizing a transparent, fair, and accountable process is a labor of love for the community because it ensures that diverse voices are heard and valued. This approach fosters inclusivity, empowers participants, and builds trust through clear decision-making and communication. In the background, the team reviews every single submission, prepares it, organizes it, categorizes and updates, responds to every query and corrects any typos to give everyone a fair chance. Their friends, colleagues and networks voted for them. Council members set aside their agendas to give them their full focus. This commitment to fairness and transparency reflects a deep respect and love for the people who make the community vibrant and meaningful. 🌟 This was an extremely competitive edition of SOCAP Open. With Over 400 submissions from across the world, only 4% of sessions were selected. I want to congratulate the session organizers who received the fantastic news and also those who were so close to the top ranked sessions, which you can review here ➡ https://lnkd.in/exc2y-YN #CommunityFirst #Crowdsourcing #SOCAP24 #Transparency #Inclusivity #Fairness #QualityContent #CommunityLove Nicole Lasasso Fabienne Blanc Hans G. 🖤💛❤️It’s NAIDOC 2024! 💙💚🤍🖤 🔥Keep the Fire Burning, Blak🦶🏽Loud ✊🏽and Proud💪🏽 It’s that time of the year that amplfies the noise and visibility of blak power, blak resilience, blak excellence! - it is alive and happening everyday, so really, it’s BAU for us mob. But, NAIDOC Week gives the whole Country a reminder to pause and celebrate the oldest continuing culture in the world. 🌏 Across this vast continent, mob everywhere work tirelessly to change the impact of colonisation and prioritise the self determining interest of First Peoples to lead successful and fulfilling lives. You might like to take a moment to recognise and appreciate your First Nations colleague, friend or family member. You could take some time out to do some self guided learning through factual and First Nations led research, or go check out and participate in your local NAIDOC community events. If you are a decision maker and hold a level of responsibility and accountability in your organisation, have you thought about creating sustainable long term change for the benefit of First Peoples? If unsure how to start, go ask First Nations People to guide you on how to achieve this - after all, that is supporting self determination. ❤️Happy NAIDOC from the Little Family ❤️ #NAIDOC2024 #Keepthefireburning #Blakloudandproud #FirstPeoples #FirstNations #Blakexcellence #Alwayswasalwayswillbe

Apurv Gupta, MD, MPH - This is such a powerful post, Apurv. “The world doesn’t change one person at a time. It changes as networks of relationships form among people who discover they share a common cause and vision of what’s possible.” – Margaret, Wheatley and Deborah Frieze, “Using Emergence to Take Social Innovations to Scale” quoted in “Impact Networks” Meg Wheatley was ahead of her time when she wrote her iconic "Leadership and the New Science", which is still on my Recommended Reading List 18 years later. For me, Meg was the first prominent business leader to acknowledge energy and energy fields created by all businesses that negatively or positively effect staff and customers. Now we know the root causes of those energy fields and how to change negative ones to positive ones, creating better businesses. I'd heard often how someone was going to change the world one person at a time and wondered how this strategy could ever work. Even in my own work in healthcare, which I thought was a real breakthrough workflow improvement model #LovingWorkflows #3DHealthcare, I was mostly confined to working with one hospital at a time. In 20 years focused on healthcare, how many hospitals did I help out of the 6000+ in the US alone? Not many. Did my work make any real difference in the hospital I was working with? For the most part, improved metrics say yes, it did--at least until a new command and control CEO came in and began unraveling the good staff-led workflows/systems improvement work we'd done. Did the work make any difference in healthcare? No, it didn't. Healthcare continued it steady decline unabated, always doing the same non-workflow-improvement-based things expecting a different result. We are only going to turn healthcare if right actions can be done at scale. That's the purpose of #ALovingOrganizationConsortium, yes? This is The Great Gathering of kindred spirits who, together, will right the great but evermore listing ship that is healthcare. It appears #ALovingOrganization has struck a cord that resonates with many longing for a better healthcare system and world. We know the love is much more intelligent than fear and love knows the way home. It's time to give love a chance. After our July 17 A Loving Organization Consortium launch -- Recording: https://lnkd.in/gVzQXRty, I've been gratified to see the enthusiasm of those coming forward to create the necessary synergies that will turn healthcare. Critically, it's both individuals and organizations. It appears we're on the right track from an "Impact Networks" point of view. 💙 💙 #LovingSystems #4SimpleAgreements
The premise and promise of “Impact Networks” by David Ehrlichman has much to offer for A Loving Organization Consortium — “Impact networks build on the life force of community – shared principles, resilience, self organization, and trust – while leveraging the advantages of an effective organization, including a common aim, and operational backbone, and a bias for action.” Thanks to our Charter Member, Lonnie Hirsch, for the suggestion!
