🌍 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀: 𝗔 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮-𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 📊 Today, nearly every field is leveraging 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 to address critical challenges, and public health is no exception! Through my recent analysis on Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) using 𝗕𝗶𝗴𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮, I've uncovered insights into why certain regions in the U.S. struggle with shortages in dental health professionals. 🦷✨ 💡 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: 𝗥𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝘀. 𝗨𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗚𝗮𝗽𝘀: Rural areas face unique obstacles in accessing dental health services, with workforce shortages directly impacting local communities' health. 𝗣𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀: Areas with high demand for dental services for specific population types—like low-income and underserved groups—are more likely to be designated as shortage areas. 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 & 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: Insights from this analysis can aid 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 and 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 in designing targeted recruitment strategies and educational programs to close these gaps. 📈 Using 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗴𝗹𝗲𝗕𝗶𝗴𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗿𝘆 and 𝗣𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻, I ran queries to pinpoint contributing factors to the shortage designations and visualize these trends effectively. Below is a visualization that breaks down the primary population types most affected by these shortages. ⬇️ #MScBigDataTechnologies #HPSA #DataVisualization #DentalHealth #HealthData #BigDataInHealthcare #PublicHealthData #RuralHealth #DataDrivenPolicy #HealthcareWorkforce #DataAnalytics

Our very own Nadine Lafond, Client Engagement Officer and EVP Client Leader, Bindhu Gopalan attended #ASCO2024 in Chicago. They had an incredible experience connecting with clients, colleagues, HCPs, patient advocacy groups, and industry peers. Here are some of their key takeaways: 🔹 Treatment goals are critical and vary across patient journeys; early discussions build trust and ease late-stage conversations. 🔹 HCPs need more palliative care-inspired training and education on cultural and minority population treatment adaptations. 🔹 Aging is a health disparity often compounded by other disparities. 🔹 AI has many potential applications but integrating it into clinical practice requires more work. Patients also need education on AI use in healthcare. 🔹 AI models can reflect health disparities and biases; awareness and corrective measures are essential. 🔹 Encouraging data on curative intent and breakthroughs are poised to change clinical practice immediately. 🔹 Identifying patients not benefiting from transformative outcomes and using AI to develop early treatment strategies can alter their care trajectory. 🔹 Social media, particularly platforms like X, is crucial for oncologists to advance research, promote professional development, and build community in real-time. #Healthcare #Oncology #PatientAdvocacy #HealthDisparities #ProfessionalDevelopment #HealthcareInnovation
