When I find myself in the ever struggle of the question between: big system change vs. what's possible now (something that most climate folks deal with) and in the light of the results last night, I often go back to this conversation with Noam Chomsky about incremental change and being in the system to change it from within. It's simple and profound and captures the essence of the argument to keep going with what you got, something startup and conservationist folks have in common. https://lnkd.in/eS58zdn3

Alan Lichtman, using his "Keys to the White House" model, has correctly predicted the winner of every presidential election since 1984. He is brilliant, have a look for yourselves: https://lnkd.in/guBngrBe https://lnkd.in/gzRHE9_d. Just listen to his answer to a question about climate change: Q. One month ago, Trump gathered the CEOs of major oil companies and God knows what promises he made to them. Legislatively speaking, to what extent can Trump undo Biden's climate accomplishments? A: Entirely. A lot of that, most of it are executive orders. Some of it is law, but you can overturn executive orders on day one as Biden did. In fact, he had a record number of executive orders on day one, overturning a lot of what Trump did. And what you got to understand with Trump: Everything he does is out in the open, because he doesn't believe he'll ever be held accountable for anything. So he has been very open about the way in which he is going to push fossil fuels, which are the main driver of catastrophic climate change, which existentially threatens our survival on the planet. And it's no longer a matter of scientific models and projections. It's here. Look at the extreme heat. We've had the droughts, the wildfires, the storms, the tornadoes, the floods, the rising sea water, it is here. And what did Trump say he's going to do? He said I'll be a dictator on day one because I want to drill, drill, drill. In other words, not only is he going to take no action to stop catastrophic climate change. He's going to do everything in his power to make it worse. And I really fear for the future of you young people in our audience.

Modern Science by the All Clear 2024 Here's a solution to climate change. Let's blow ourselves off of the planet. Let Nature do the rest. An easy solution Transgressors all punished And a healing planet left to the Least. Start it all over again. Start it all over again. Here's a solution, so simple and neat, Let's vanish ourselves, what a feat! Nature will dance, we'll be gone, no lament, An easy fix, for our climate torment. Transgressors all, bid your adieu, Humanity's folly, bid it adieu. Let's leave the Earth to heal and to thrive, For the meek and the mild, it's time to revive. Here's a solution to climate change. Let's blow ourselves off of the planet. Let Nature will do the rest. An easy solution Transgressors all punished And a healing planet left to the Least. Start it all over again. Start it all over again. No more factories, no more cars, No more pollution, under the stars. Let the oceans breathe, let the forests sigh, As humanity waves its final goodbye. A world without humans, what a sight to behold, Nature reclaiming her stories untold. No need for meetings, no need for debate, Just the echo of nature, in its pristine state. Cheers to the solution, so brilliantly right, Let's blow ourselves off, take flight. For the Earth will endure, long after our plight, In the silence of nature, bathed in the night. Here's a solution to climate change. Let's blow ourselves off of the planet. Let Nature will do the rest. An easy solution Transgressors all punished And a healing planet left to the Least. Start it all over again. Start it all over again.

We currently face one of the greatest threats ever to our blue planet and all its inhabitants: the climate crisis. It is all too clear that we need a healthy ocean for a healthy climate, and vice versa, and we need significantly stronger local, national, and international action from both government and corporate leaders. NOW!!! By collaborating in transformative ways, we can create a healthier and more abundant future for all. It’s ambitious, but while no one chooses difficult circumstances, adversity provides opportunity. When circumstances are easy, it’s hard to see the extraordinary within ourselves.. As the Roman slave Publilius Syrus once said, “Anyone can steer the ship when the sea is calm.” The path to being exceptional begins when you decide to be responsible for your actions no matter the situation. Don’t waste time wishing for a better future, but focus instead on how we are all going to play the cards we have to achieve the best result!! June 8th - World Ocean Day is much more than a day. It’s a lifestyle, it’s a way of life, it’s a mindset 🌊 One Ocean, One Climate, One Future – Together! #worldoceanday #climatechange #collectiveaction #collectiveresponsibility

While humanity has the capacity to remedy the damage done to the planet and find its way forward, it must also look beyond the climate crisis to transform both the future and how our civilization will face it

Adored watching Dr.Gibson's Ted Talk on 'How to Feel Safe When the World is on Fire.' 💚 It reminds us of three things: 1) Navigating the climate crisis causes primary and secondary trauma 2) Understanding how trauma shows up in the body is an important first step in accessing the support we need and deserve as individuals and communities 3) There are individual and collective practices to support us in navigating the trauma of climate injustices and that will support our climate action Link to Watch: https://lnkd.in/gAjKNCwn #ClimatePsychology #ClimateTrauma #ClimateResilience #ClimateAction #ClimateEmotions

Where are we now with climate? This is a sobering talk about us, the climate, and the work ahead. Each year, I look forward to Tom Chi's talks with a mix of hope and a little dread. Tom examines climate change through a science and engineering lens, emphasizing the critical state of our oceans, the scale of global warming, and the immense task of planetary restoration. He underscores that even with immediate, comprehensive action, it could take up to three generations to restore our ecosystems fully. The two main points I took away: -- We need intergenerational efforts (it has taken multiple generations to get here) -- We need Supra-rational thought (rational thought is what created the mess) Tom's approach and that of the At One Ventures portfolio of companies go beyond "climate tech" to address the systemic roots of climate change through regenerative economic solutions that transform unhealthy systems. I take this as a call to dedicate my efforts to climate change and to work intergenerationally, building systems and institutions that ensure future generations can carry forward a sustainable vision for our planet. At One Venture's Portfolio: https://lnkd.in/gZaaiZSZ I have also launched a 21-article series to help me make sense of the climate crisis - see it here: https://lnkd.in/ggV9TfJJ
