On behalf of #POSTCOMER and the University Centre of Excellence IMSErt – Know Team, we are pleased to invite you to submit an abstract for the international conference "Un/Doing Academia in Time of Polycrisis" at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Poland, next springtime 2025. 🔗 Submission link: https://lnkd.in/dmnqkdEH ⁉️ We particularly welcome scholars, researchers, and faculty members who engage in and not only to the following questions: - What is (or should be) the role of academia in a time of polycrisis? - Does distance and/or closeness to the field of research reduce or stimulate acts of solidarity, and/or does it reinforce epistemic violence? - How do scholars produce knowledge in a time of dramatic political changes, genocidal violence, and unsettling ideological certainties? - Does academic solidarity with war-torn countries reinforce violence by introducing new power hierarchies upon marginalised, racialised and minoritised communities? In contrast, does the lack of proper engagement of academia with wars, human rights violations, and genocide reveal academic complicity in a time of poly-crisis? - Do scholars who engage with “whom they produce knowledge for”, and with the “spaces and “places” they carry out research in, contribute to worsening the relations between academia and civil society? 📅 Important Deadlines: Abstracts Submission Opens: 15 November, 2024; Abstracts Submission Closes: 31, December 2024 - #No deadline extensions; Abstracts Selection Closes: 14, January 2024; Notification of Acceptance: 15 January, 2025; 📩 Should you have any inquiries, do not hesitate to contact us at a.domachowska@umk.pl or trupia@umk.pl. The conference will be an on-site event.

🌍🔬 Celebrating World Science Day for Peace and Development 🔬🌍 This weekend, we recognise the vital role that science plays in promoting peace, advancing sustainable development, and improving lives worldwide. World Science Day for Peace and Development highlights how research and innovation can bridge divides, tackle global challenges, and contribute to a fairer, more resilient world. To truly harness science’s potential, it must be accessible to all—starting from a young age. Inspiring curiosity and critical thinking in younger generations is essential for cultivating future scientists, innovators, and informed citizens. Effective outreach and education initiatives ensure that the wonders of science reach everyone, empowering individuals and communities to engage with and benefit from scientific progress. Let’s work toward a future where science serves as a force for peace, cooperation, and inclusive growth, and where everyone has the opportunity to participate in and contribute to scientific advancement. #WorldScienceDay #ScienceForAll #PeaceAndDevelopment #OutreachMatters #InspireYoungMinds #InclusiveInnovation
In troubling times, what role is there for science to play? This weekend, we mark the World Science Day for Peace and Development, on 10 November. It's a time to reflect on the positive - and often understated - influence research can have on society. To mark the occasion last year, we compiled a list of projects advancing science's positive legacy: from improving conflict resolution to delivering on the #SustainableDevelopmentGoals. Give these projects and read - and let us reflect on how research, its results and findings, can contribute to creating the conditions for peace and in turn, allow for societies to flourish. #WorldScienceDay #PeaceDay

The Northeastern States Research Cooperative (NSRC) is pleased to announce the release of the 2024 Request for Proposals (RFP). NSRC expects to award nearly $2.2 million in funding for projects that will begin in the summer of 2025. Research projects may range from one- to three-year research efforts, with budgets ranging from $75,000 to $300,000. The expectation is that NSRC will be able to fund between 7 and 10 projects in response to this RFP. The 2024 RFP is informed by our external advisory committee, who met in October to help formulate this RFP aimed at research with clear links to application and use by stakeholders and decision makers in the Northern Forest Region. Specifically, NSRC seeks proposals focused on: (1) community and economic resilience, (2) decision support and management tools, (3) forest health and resilience, and/or (4) social science for effective public engagement. Successful proposals will prioritize problem-driven, engaged research aimed at enhancing forest and community resilience. Projects should be focused on locally and topically relevant research to help professional foresters, non-profits, and the wider community. Participation in this RFP is open to scientists, resource managers, policymakers, and other stakeholders pursuing research relevant to forest lands in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and the northern tier of New York. Participation of US Forest Service personnel in projects is encouraged. Special conditions apply to Forest Service employees who submit proposals as PIs or Co-PIs (see RFP for details). Interested researchers are required to submit a letter of intent by January 6, 2025; proposals are due February 7, 2025. Letters of intent are required to be eligible to submit a proposal, but there will be no assessment of the intellectual or technical merit of the proposed project. Notification of final proposal selections will be made in the Spring. https://lnkd.in/eyXMKmGD

🌟Check out our Grant Testimonials! 🌟 PROFEEDBACK grants offer a unique opportunity for researchers and professionals to connect, collaborate, and contribute to a dynamic, European-wide dialogue. 📈🤝 Those involved in PROFEEDBACK can apply for different grants, helping to fuel a future where knowledge exchange leads the way. Thanks to the PROFEEDBACK ITC grant, Danijel Baturina took part in the prestigious 27th IPSA World Congress of Political Science in Buenos Aires! 🇦🇷 🎤Here is what Danijel had to say about this opportunity: "With the help of the PROEEDBACK ITC grant, I have participated in the 27th IPSA World Congress of Political Science, Buenos Aires, Argentina which represents the most prestigious and biggest conference of political scientists in the world. I have presented two papers which contribute to articulating a policy evaluation as the key tool in understanding, developing and modernising EU (and Croatia) policies. One: Evolution and evaluation of the state of social rights of the homeless people in Croatia and other: Elderly care in Croatia: policy struggles in between state’s dominance and private initiative. I was thrilled to participate in the conference as I gained insights into the developmental trends of politics (specifically social policy and its evaluations) as well as new methodological approaches used in policy evaluation. Beyond this, the grant had an impact on the development of my networks of collaborators as well as a creative playground for development and feedback on the new research ideas that I have. " Danijel’s experience underscores the power of PROFEEDBACK grants in advancing research, building connections, and fostering innovation in policy evaluation across Europe. 🌐 🎓Check out our grants on the Profeedback website! https://lnkd.in/dUYJZgr8 #ProfeedbackGrants #PolicyEvaluation #ResearchImpact #KnowledgeExchange #GrantSuccess 👉 Stay updated by following us on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter!
