1.17 million. 1,170,000. Big number, right? That’s how many abusive comments SocialProtect deleted for our partners and clients in 2024. That’s more than 3,000 per day. Almost 134 per hour. So on average about one comment every 30 seconds. These are comments containing racism, sexually harassing commentary, body shaming, antisemitism, cultural hatred, gambling-related abuse, offensive language, a huge range of scams and a lot of spam. And it’s all gone within a second of it being posted. Our final stat: our partners and clients saw an increase of 21% in the total number of comments received once SocialProtect was connected. Not a decrease. That means a safer, more civil comments section promotes more engagement from a wider range of the community. Join us in 2025 as we continue working towards online spaces where each user is empowered to protect themselves how they want without sharing their passwords. Welcome to SocialProtect!

The next focus of our anti-bullying campaign is cyberbullying, a serious issue that takes place when digital devices such as cell phones, computers, and tablets are used for bullying purposes. This can happen through SMS, apps, social media, & online forums where harmful content is shared about someone. With the widespread use of social media, such content can impact individuals' online reputations & be viewed by strangers. Cyberbullying not only affects the victim, but also those participating in it. It's crucial to be mindful of our online behaviour, as it can have lasting consequences on our personal & professional lives. To tackle cyberbullying, it's crucial to stop all communication & not engage with the bully. Blocking the cyberbully on social media & reporting them is essential. Safeguard yourself online by refraining from sharing your passwords, utilizing privacy settings, & being cautious with your personal information. When feeling threatened, don't hesitate to seek help or report cyberbullying to the authorities. Together, we can create a kinder, more compassionate world where everyone is treated with respect. 🌐 #UnitedinDiversity #WeAreRoundTable #RTIAntiBullying

🌐 The internet should be a space for connection, not harm. But for many, especially women, girls, and marginalized groups, it’s a place of harassment, stalking, and cyberbullying—forms of online abuse that cause real emotional and psychological harm. The internet is a shared space, but for many, it’s not a safe one. Together, we can change that by: • Advocating for stronger policies against online abuse. • Supporting those experiencing harassment. • Educating ourselves and others on digital safety practices. Let’s take action to make digital spaces safe for all, where respect and connection thrive. 🌐 Share this post to spread awareness and help build a safer internet for everyone. #OnlineSafety #EndCyberViolence #16Days

When sexually abusive behavior occurs online, some children may not even realize they are being abused or exploited; and those who do still may not tell anyone, especially if they have broken a safety rule or believe their social media or internet privileges may be taken away.
