I first came across this during a pattern recognition course years ago—seeing it again now is inspiring. Yann LeCun shared a restored video from 1989, demonstrating one of the first convolutional neural networks recognizing digits in real-time. The restoration itself, powered by modern convolutional nets, highlights how far this technology has come. #AI #DeepLearning #PatternRecognition #Innovation
This is a restored version of an old video of me demonstrating an early convolutional network recognizing digits in real time. My friend Larry Jackel, who shot the video at Bell Labs in 1989, processed it through a video quality enhancement software. The funny thing is that this software uses convolutional nets! https://lnkd.in/eWz6ZfNB
