This game is known for its challenging and fun nature, drawing both participants and spectators. 💪 How the Game Works: 🌴 Setup: A tall, smooth pole (often a palm tree trunk) is erected and greased with a slippery substance, usually oil or clay. The height of the pole can range from 5 to 10 meters. 🎁 Prizes: Various prizes such as bicycles, clothing, food, and household items are hung at the top of the pole. These prizes are the main attraction for the participants. 🤝 Participants: Teams of several people work together to climb the slippery pole. The challenge lies in the fact that the grease makes it extremely difficult to ascend. 🤗 Teamwork: The game requires teamwork, as participants often stand on each other's shoulders to reach the top. Hello, Everyone! This time, I would like to share the results of my exploration of attendance service product design to provide references to all of you. This is actually my collaboration project with my vocational high school, SMK N 4 Kendal. This product is an attendance application that I named “Skanifo Attendance” to help teachers record attendance information in real time and make it easier for students to take attendance at my school. As per the request of one of my teachers, the main case of this project is that the product should make students can only do attendance when they are at the school location. Where, students cannot cheat, because later their location will be tracked when they open this application to take attendance. For the student's point of view, the main case of this project is that the product must have clear schedule information along with the start to finish time with attractive visuals and there is a feature that sends reminders / notifications to students when the attendance is open or closed. At Singapore Institute of Technology, we pride ourselves on fostering an interdisciplinary curriculum that equips students with essential transferable skills, such as critical thinking, design thinking, and futures thinking (CDF) for design innovation. Our university-wide design innovation modules are intentionally designed to develop critical design futures thinking skills in students across diverse degree programs each year. Undergirded by the CDF model, instructors model “Question Starters” to ask good questions with a CDF mindset to explore multifaceted real-world issues in a humanity-centred approach. This highlights the need for our future-ready students to achieve critical competence, design dexterity and futures flexibility when ideating solutions for a sustainable future (Patel et al, 2024; Patel et al, forthcoming). It has been a pleasure to work closely with many schools in the brilliant DesignSingapore Council ‘s Learning by Design initiative in bringing Design Thinking to schools. We aim to encourage students to develop critical reflexivity, enabling them to question assumptions and their place in the world. This reflective practice is crucial in preparing them to tackle real-world challenges with innovative solutions. Our commitment to designing for good is evident in our teaching philosophy, which emphasises collaborative, interdisciplinary projects aimed at making a positive social and environmental impact. It may look simple at the outside, but the importance of creating a safe and engaging play space for children, even in small and limited areas does give the challenge. I believe that every child deserves a space where they can run, jump and play. It's not just about throwing some toys in a corner and calling it a day. It's about creating an environment that fosters creativity, learning, and fun that truly satisfies me. I take pride in my ability to think creatively and strategically to maximize the space available and ensure that every inch is utilized to its full potential. I'm looking for students working through what it means to apply Te Aranga Design Principles as someone who isn't Māori. I'm planning a series of posts looking at the different TADP , and the cultural values behind them. And most importantly, how our positionality as Tauiwi (non-Māori) plays a HUGE part in how do this sensitively - and can be a stepping stone to designing as Tangata Tiriti (people of the Treaty). When we started Tech Up, Kah Fai Lok and I focused on serving the underserved and suburban schools (despite running as a Sdn Bhd) We subsidised most of the work because at that time, I was still serving the corporate world, and it was what we both wanted to do.. We didn’t know what NGO nor Social Entreprise does at that time, we just know how to trade and how to business. Today, this is the legacy that we started, a self sustaining business, profitable and hiring good hearted people with clear Big Why. My experience as a Top 50 finalists in Bintang SMA Pocari Sweat 2023 🔥 Back in September - November 2023, Pocari Sweat Indonesia opened a competition for highschool students, especially senior highschoolers to express their talents and interests in Bintang SMA (Highschool Stars). I was pretty excited for it since I have a pretty unique interest and hobby in content creation, which I tackled it ever since I was a junior highschool student. The first eliminitation round was a video creation which I took my shot and created one of the most complicated video project that I've ever done. It was through days of shooting and weeks of editing, which 80% of them was done by me. The shooting session was assisted with an acquaintance with an expertise on videography, and they really helped me a ton on making this project exactly what I visioned it to be. After some quite time perfecting the editing, I uploaded the result on my Instagram which you can check right here: https://lnkd.in/ghZwyQb5 A few days goes by, and the result came in. I was selected as the top 50 finalists which were filtered from thousands of applicants. It was amazing, and I really thought that I should give this another shot. The next elimination round will sum up pretty much the whole event, where only 7 applicants will pass through and made it into the grand finals. I got straight to work and I made one more video, this time with more strategy in mind and concepts that I thought would be pretty cool on a video. So it took me another week or two to make my project into reality, and when the time comes for me to upload, I uploaded it and promoted it so it would get votes (I forgot to mention that video submitions on the second round will have voting system where anyone can vote whoever they want, vote really does matter in the selection process). However, in the end I didn't pass the second round which was pretty heartbreaking. But I believe every loss have their own lessons and I'm truly grateful that I've tried and gave it a shot. It's still a fenomenal achievement for me so I might as well share it!
