Transport & Environment predicts that BEV could/should reach 20-24% of sales in EU in 2025. They seem to base this prediction on European OEMs launching 5-7 new "affordable" BEVs. This seems highly questionable to me, and if sales reach 24% in Europe it will be because of Chinese BEVs, which the analysis dosen't seem to consider. #T&E #BEV #EU #sales #co2 https://lnkd.in/dxTkymf7

Press update: Valeo support for 48-volt hybrid segment grows ⚙ Stop-Start 48-volt hybrid vehicle systems are increasingly common, and Valeo is urging garages to make sure they are up to date with this technology as the car parc shifts towards full electrification. While 600 new EV models are set to join the market across Europe in 2025, hybrids still make up a significant proportion of the car parc. Figures published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) showed that 19.6% of new cars sold in the UK last year were mild hybrids, taking in both diesel and petrol variants. The BMW i3 REX was the first attempt to market an extended-range EV—a BEV with a generator—but it didn’t quite succeed. Can larger EREVs improve both GHG emissions and consumer acceptance while reducing dependence on DC fast charging? The answer may lie beyond technology alone. New policy tools that reflect real-world fleet performance can encourage OEMs to support frequent charging and earn credits when they do. Current tools, like utility factors and supply-side regulations, are not a sufficient starting point, but many OEMs are exploring promising new technologies, engines, and fuels that may show potential for deep GHG reductions with regular charging may not be a good starting point, but many OEMS are testing new technologies, engines and fuels that shows high potential. https://lnkd.in/gzrMpFBA

China's auto market is electrifying! Plug-in sales are surging, with hybrids gaining ground on pure electrics. At this rate, half the cars sold in China this year could be electric! April Numbers shows 27% year over year (YoY). Looking deeper at the numbers, BEVs were up 10%, while PHEVs did even better, jumping 65% in April. Breaking down plugin sales by powertrain, BEVs had 59% of sales, below this year’s average of 65%, proving the rising popularity of plugin hybrids in this market. The interesting part is that PHEV share is growing faster (10% vs. 14%). This is something to think about. Full electrics (BEVs) alone accounted for 26% of the country’s auto sales. #EV #ElectricVehicles #BEV #CleanTransportation #eMobility #Sustainability

As at Q3 of 2024, We have 33,786 Battery Electric Vehicles(BEVs) on the road. With BYD leading at 10,900 units, and Tesla at 6,746 units in Malaysia It’s important to note that all new tech will also have its dangers, and while EV cars have a low percentage of fire happening ( 0.03% chance), its affects can be devastating as the temperature can go higher and can last longer than a normal Internal Combustion Engine(ICE) car due to the make up of lithium ion batteries . Datu Khirudin, Director of the Fire Safety Division in Bomba shared great insights on EV fire safety. You can read it here : https://lnkd.in/gEsdkBsW

The high cost of #BEVs compared to internal combustion engine vehicles, along with changing subsidies and incentives, has slowed BEV demand in several key markets. In contrast, China sees robust BEV sales due to lower prices and aggressive market strategies.
