Where to begin? When I first got the opportunity to help lead TSI, I didn't want it to be just another tradeshow. TSI had to be different, bring value, and, most importantly, mean something. While it wasn’t perfect, and we had many lessons learned, I am proud to say TSI was a huge success. THANK YOU to everyone who helped make TSI happen. We had incredible keynote events with leaders such as Dr. Lori Moore-Merrell, Stefan Truthän, Fernando Palacios, Chad Council, Jason Cerrano, Garry Briese, and many more. Special shout out to: 🤖 Siddharth Thakur from Paradigm Robotics won the Shark Tank top prize. ⌚ DC Fire and EMS Department (Kate K., and Shawn Downs) won the first annual First Responder Innovation award for their innovative work on wearables for physiological alerting and location tracking. 🚒 The Oklahoma Fire Service. Richard Kelley and Michael Baker MA, EFO welcomed us with open arms this year, and it elevated the game for everyone. These are top-notch fire departments and all-around great people. This year, we hosted 16 breakout sessions on Data, AI, DFR, EMS, CRR, Procurement, and more. I enjoyed many breakout sessions as we leaned into two-way dialogue. Taking inspiration from SXSW and its UN-conference vibe, many sessions had incredible energy. Two workshops stood out: one on how to use AI in the fire service led by Sai Narain and Scott Roseberry and a CRR data workshop led by Chelsea Rubadou, Landon A. Churchill, and Baylie Scott. Seeing the real-time use of technology among all the attendees to help everyone implement best practices after TSI put a smile on my face. Did we move the needle? It's hard to say for sure, but I saw new connections being made, best practices shared, and fresh ideas forged. All at a faster pace to accelerate tech adoption and change in the fire service. For now, I'm moderately content. 😊 Moving into 2025, I’m stoked about the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) Tech Council. Our seven subcommittees (Unmanned Systems, Artificial Intelligence, GIS, Wearables, Data, Communications, and Common Operating Picture) will drive thought leadership content, curate learning experiences, identify industry gaps, and encourage everyone to adopt and manage technology effectively. If you want to join the tech council, send me a note. Lastly, a special shout-out to Dr. Lori and the USFA, National Fire Academy. The #OneVoice campaign is ALIVE and WELL, igniting unity among GOV, EDU, ORG, and COM partners. 1wKevin Sofen this was the BEST TSI so far and let's keep making it better. The opportunity to meet amazing people who are creators and doers is amazing. Networking for me is what really charges my batteries and learning how others have become successful really gets my gears turning. Thanks to you and others in the industry, I have been able to become bigger than myself and the amazing organization that I have been a part of for over 2 decades. Thank you for the opportunity and let's keep making the fire service better each year as the tech is changing by the minute.
