#TuesdayThoughts I sometimes wonder if being a #propertyinvestor myself and working for a #bridgingfinance and #developmentfinance lender is in conflict? 🤔 It can be very hard at times to maintain a balance between enforcing the terms of the loans whilst recognizing that sometimes things happen that are outside the control of borrowers. I have a tendency to think back to my own early experience of having a self employed bricklayer as a dad, and remember all of the hard times he went through in the 80's and 90's in the sector, and the impact it had on him/us financially and emotionally. The situations some of our borrowers find themselves in at times really strike a nerve with me, and on occasion have even made me cry - yes! even lenders are human and have a heart! At times like that I must admit I struggle to find that balance. However, I pride myself on building #relationships and repeat business I will fight as much as possible for the right borrower 🤜 I'm sure many of my colleagues get sick and tired of me asking for us to be commercial and look at the bigger picture 😉 😂 But I always think how would I like to do business and be treated? Does anyone else have this struggle? #TuesdayThoughts #bridgingfinance #developmentfinance #relationshipsmatter #findingbalance #propertyinvesting #propertydeveloping

You have two choices. Laugh or Cry. Work is hard. Life is hard. Life is unfair. Life is also joyous, fun, fascinating and so much more. For those in developed economies I truly believe we largely have a choice of what we do, who we interact with and how we live our lives. We have the freedom to make those decisions. I was speaking with a BDM at one of the lenders we work with and she is always positive and bubbly which is why I look forward to speaking with her. She asked me, “how are you?” I responded, “best day of my life” to which she laughed and asked “why is that?”. “Everyday is the best day of my life” is always my reply. Is brokering hard work? Yes. Do we sometimes get frustrated or upset with valuers, solicitors, underwriters, traffic wardens, telephone centre operators at our banks or utility companies? YES! I imagine, whether you’re a broker, lender, solicitor, valuer, or other - times get hard and sometimes you prefer to just pack up and go home. But the BDM and I agreed, we have a choice. Laugh or Cry. I know which I choose. #business #mindset #positivity #financebroker #propertyinvesting

As we approach June 30, it is an important time for anyone who is self employed and looking to buy property, to start thinking through their strategy. This is relevant for anyone who is a Sole Operator, Working as a Partnership - or as a Company. There are many nuances associated with self employed borrowers and if this is something you feel you need to get on top of, why not book a 20 minute planning session to work through your goals and objectives... and how to reach them? My sessions are free and can be booked via the link below: https://lnkd.in/gYTXiyE2
