ROP (Return on Potential) is my favorite acronym although I’m an MD, PhD, MBA, CFA & a bunch of other acronyms people think matters. 4x’ing ROP @ Harvard, MIT, & Stanford & Founder/CEO of a multibillion dollar VC firm.
We all have grand plans, and sometimes… Things exceed our expectations Other times We are right on plan And, well, er… The rest of the times are “do overs.” It’s really how we respond to adversity and challenge that dictate our destiny. We all know that failure isn’t just a possibility… It is an inevitability. And, we shall fail repeatedly Sometimes privately And other times Publicly and even humiliatingly. When we imbue self compassion and humor in those moments we acknowledge that Our self-worth transcends our actions And that gift to ourselves allows us to go at it again with renewed enthusiasm. So as we wrap up our (holiday) weekend and embark upon a new week Perhaps we can find areas where we can transcend our foibles and offer ourselves the gift of the redo.
