Protected. By now you have likely heard about the recent CrowdStrike software update that impacted millions of computers. SimplePowerIT clients were not impacted because we ensure that our clients’ endpoints (PCs and Servers) are protected with Sentinel One, CrowdStrike’s leading competitor. We choose this provider because they use a phased release process for updates, which eliminates the possibility of this this exact sort of upgrade-triggered outage. While millions of businesses were grappling with the impact, SimplePowerIT clients continued with business as usual. Catastrophic occurrences such as this are uncommon, but we actively take steps to avoid them by monitoring updates as they are released, and our team is prepared to assist customers with rollback actions in the event of a worst-case scenario. At SimplePowerIT, we deliver peace of mind. Contact us today if you’d like to learn more about how we can help keep your business operating smoothly.

Last week's system outage highlighted critical lessons for everyone and affected many different industries worldwide. A failure in CrowdStrike's endpoint protection service led to widespread Windows Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) issues. I am not an IT guru, but I realize why our agency tech specialist, 👨🏻💻 Alban Leung, always asks us to follow these four simple steps ✅ . While system outages and software issues can sometimes be beyond our control, there are steps we can take to minimize the risk and keep our operations running smoothly: 1️⃣ Keep Your Software Updated: Regularly update your operating system and all software. Updates often include fixes for known issues that could cause crashes. 2️⃣ Avoid Installing Unnecessary Software: Only install software from trusted sources. Unnecessary or unverified software can introduce conflicts and cause system instability. 3️⃣ Backup Your Data: Regularly back up important data to ensure you don’t lose valuable information if your system crashes. 4️⃣ Shut Down After Use: Shutting down your computer when you’re done using it can help prevent issues. It gives the system a fresh start, clears temporary files, and can resolve minor software glitches. As we navigate an increasingly digital landscape, these lessons are more relevant than ever. #Kudos to Alban for helping fix all the BLUE screens in the past few days. We appreciate your efforts, as always!

Recovering From the Global Tech Outage Could be a Long, Arduous Process - The company that caused a massive computer outage across the world says a flawed update has been rolled back – but that doesn’t necessarily help the thousands of businesses that have been affected by the glitch. - The CrowdStrike software issue at the heart of the outage runs at such a deep level in affected computers and systems that getting them up and running just to be fixed will be, in many cases, an enormous challenge. - That’s compounded by the fact that many of the servers that may contain information needed to get these systems working again are themselves caught in a cycle of crashing and rebooting. WILL THE AFFECTED SYSTEMS BE MORE VULNERABLE TO CYBERATTACK? https://lnkd.in/gHX9cYqG

To Our Customers and Partners July 19, 2024|George Kurtz |Executive Viewpoint Valued Customers and Partners, I want to sincerely apologize directly to all of you for today’s outage. All of CrowdStrike understands the gravity and impact of the situation. CrowdStrike is operating normally, and this issue does not affect our Falcon platform systems. There is no impact to any protection if the Falcon sensor is installed. You might have heard the news today about the global disruption caused by a Crowdstrike update. All Citynet Services are fully operational and have not been impacted by the current Crowdstrike issue. If you are a Citynet CityCare customer and are experiencing issues, please use your normal support channels. For other Citynet customers needing support with this issue, please reach out to us at 1.800.881.2638 or support@citynet.net A temporary workaround has been issued: Boot Windows into Safe Mode or the Windows Recovery Environment Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike directory Locate the file matching “C-00000291*.sys”, and delete it. Boot the host normally. Please note that the process is manual and time-consuming, but it's a method you can use to maintain your critical infrastructure. Additionally, there are several places where you can validate this information. https://lnkd.in/eFvA_4aq https://lnkd.in/eFWmuXA2 https://lnkd.in/etnwihdp
