Spotify just launched a new tool to auto-moderate podcast comments. Simply put, it lets podcasters moderate comments with configurable settings: “High” holds all comments for review before publication “Standard” to filter sensitive comments “Low” automatically posts all comments except those that violate guidelines Here’s what came up today on The Podcasting Morning Chat: Some may find it helpful to have more control over comments but at what cost to real engagement? ✅ Pro: Less trolling, hate speech, and irrelevant spam. ❌ Con: Could filter out honest feedback and kill the raw, unfiltered engagement that fans bring. So, where do we draw the line? Do you like this new feature or can 'comment moderation' hurt a podcast? Happy Halloween! #PodcastingTips #Spotify #AudienceEngagement

Let us know how we can bring you (the listener) the most value.
If you haven't listened to episode #65 of the Self-Taught Devs podcast yet, we did a mail bag episode where we addressed some comments and emails that listeners have submitted. It was a blast! I'd love to do more of these in the future so if you're checking out the show, the easiest way to send a question is through the comments on Spotify, or an email to selftaughtdevs@gmail.com Also, we would love your feedback! We are working on retooling our Patreon and are considering ideas for different rewards. If you're already a member or have thought about signing up, what type of content would you be interested in seeing?

When people ask how to make a podcast stand out (and, thankfully, they’re asking more and more these days 😜), here’s what I say: 1. Find Your Voice: Be real, be you. With a sea of podcasts out there, the last thing we need is more copycats 🗣️ 2. Think Long Game: Trends fade, but real value sticks. Forget about TikTok sounds and quick-hit posts. Focus on delivering something special to your core audience—they’re the ones who’ll fuel your growth ⏳ 3. Show Up, Grind it Out: Consistency is key. There’s no magic wand, just putting in the work week after week 🙌🏻

Are people doing the best they can? Yes. I choose yes. It is not always easy, but I choose to believe people are doing the best they can based on their circumstances. If you need a reminder, or open to learning and growing as a leader, listen to this two-part podcast. It is not what you might be thinking. From the podcast: We have to establish boundaries. When we set boundaries, we can live with integrity and give generously to others. Setting boundaries is a form of self-care allowing us to be our best self. https://lnkd.in/gm6GZiSu

Video audiences aren't just watching, they're becoming loyal, dedicated fans. A recent study from Spotify has revealed that video podcast viewers are 1.3x more likely to retain than an audio-only audience. That's a whopping 26% more returning listeners. One of the biggest benefits of a video podcast is its flexibility, it allows audiences to tune in as, when and how they want. Busy? Pop it on in the background. Sat doing nothing? Stick the video version on. Multi-tasking? Have it on the background. Alongside the plethora of other benefits such as content repurposing for TikTok and reels, adding more substance to your marketing efforts and providing your listeners with more choice, it's easy to see why video podcasts are increasing in popularity.
