Guest Journey and connection: The difference between an 'average Spa' and stand-out Spa experience is when the service is delivered with authenticity and connection. 🌿 Let's take two scenario's as an example: 1️⃣ You walk into 5 star Spa looking forward to your Treatment and 'me-time'. A genuine connection is made, a greeting that feels natural and the team display positive energy. You are referred to by your name and lead to the treatment room where the Therapist takes the time to understand 'your needs' to better enhance the treatment. They share some educational benefits of products and treatment. Outcome: Treatment is exceptional. You feel renewed and look forward to returning, you ask for the same Therapist and book ahead. 2️⃣ You walk into a different 5 star Spa, there is no acknowledgement of your name, small talk seems forced. The receptionist is going through the motions without making much eye contact as they are very busy on their computers/ phones. The exchange is broken and so it's hard to make a real connection. Your treatment hasn't started yet but you already feel under-whelmed. The therapist has basic language ability and the treatment is not up to standards as they have misunderstood what you requested. Outcome: Guest leaves feeling like the monetary exchange was more important. That their wellness needs were not met. They will not return and feel the service was not up to the standard they are used to. ⬇ It's important as a leader to take the time to asses the guest journey, to fully understand the Wellness needs of guest. Each guest requirement will be different so pausing to understand influences such as age, health and culture and of course a simply ask 'how are you?'. Actively listening and reading body language. Hiring the right Team from the outset is key so they connect with guests with empathy.
