🌟 The Power of Volunteer Work: Supporting Our Local Food Banks 🌟 In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to overlook the struggles many in our community face daily. Food insecurity is a pressing issue, and local food banks play a crucial role in providing relief. But they can't do it alone—they need our help. Why Volunteer? Make a Tangible Impact: Every hour you spend volunteering translates to meals for families in need. Your efforts directly contribute to alleviating hunger in your community. Build Stronger Communities: Volunteering fosters a sense of unity and purpose. It brings people together, creating a supportive network that strengthens the fabric of our society. Personal Growth: Volunteering offers a chance to develop new skills, gain valuable experiences, and build meaningful connections. It's a rewarding way to give back and grow personally and professionally. How You Can Help: Donate Your Time: Whether it's sorting donations, packing food boxes, or distributing meals, your time is invaluable. Organize Food Drives: Rally your friends, family, and colleagues to collect non-perishable items for your local food bank. Spread the Word: Use your voice to raise awareness about food insecurity and the importance of supporting food banks. Call to Action: Volunteer at your local food bank today and help provide food to the most needy! Check out opportunities at acfb.org. Let's come together to make a difference. June is National Hunger Awareness month, with "more than 34 million people, including 9 million children, in the United States who are struggling with hunger", according to SaveTheChildren.org. At Grocery Dealz, part of our Christian driven mission, is too help those struggling with hunger or food insecurity. Even if we can help just one family stretch their grocery bill a bit further to alleviate their hunger insecurity; then it would be all worth it! https://lnkd.in/gJAVJDrb

Welcome to June! Here are three things you can do this month to advocate for the girl child: 1. *Write Encouraging Letters*: Reach out to girls in your community or through organizations that support girl children. Write letters of encouragement, letting them know they are capable, strong, and valued. 2. *Support Education*: Donate books, school supplies, or even your time to tutor or mentor girls. Education is a powerful tool for empowerment, and your contribution can make a significant difference in their lives. 3. *Raise Awareness*: Use your voice on social media or in your local community to highlight issues affecting girls. Share stories, facts, and ways others can get involved in supporting and advocating for the rights and opportunities of girl children. BEHIND CLOSED DOORS - I feel a bit disheartened today, more so because the number of children dying are on the increase while the GNU decides on who must be the next minister, while government agencies responsible for safeguarding the safety of our children are having multi million rand conferences discussing ideas instead of implementing strategies available to them already. I’m confused at why this is even happening! So much talk but no action, and what makes matters worse is the fact that many abled NPO’s are doing most of the work underfunded, under resourced and unsupported. What a time to be alive, really … how so, when we can’t even protect those most vulnerable. When we ASK, we encourage you to GIVE, and when you give that INSPIRES change. It’s all connected, but I don’t think many truly understand the importance of giving from a place of love. What you see is not necessarily what you’re seeing. Darkness is spreading … 😳 #WeAreBrightSparkFoundationSA For more information, please follow us on: https://lnkd.in/dCGXEQv

June 4th marks the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression. It's a solemn day to remember the countless children around the world who suffer from violence, exploitation, and the devastating effects of conflict. This day serves as a powerful reminder of the urgent need to protect children's rights and ensure their safety and well-being. There are steps we can take to create a better future for children: Raise Awareness: Talk about the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression on social media, with friends and family, or even organize a local event. Spreading awareness is the first step to garnering support. Demand Action: Advocate for stronger international protections for children in conflict zones. You can contact your government representatives or support organizations working on child protection. Support Organizations: Donate to charities working to provide aid, education, and support to children affected by violence and conflict. Educate Yourself & Others: Learn more about the root causes of conflict and the specific challenges faced by children in war zones. Share what you learn to help others understand the issue. Promote Peacebuilding: Support efforts to resolve conflicts peacefully and build lasting peace. A world without conflict is a world where children are safer. Remember, even small actions can contribute to a larger movement. By working together, we can create a world where all children are safe and free from violence.

For the last 14 years, Denny's has raised funds toward ending childhood hunger through the generosity of our guests, which has helped us provide $13.6 million to the nonprofit No Kid Hungry since 2011. It’s an amazing community effort and a need that we don’t take lightly – donations help remove barriers that prevent kids from getting the meals they need to succeed. But one company, alone, cannot solve this critical issue across our country; it takes collective action to drive change. That’s why I am honored to share that I have joined No Kid Hungry’s CEO Pledge to End Summer Hunger. Alongside incredible leaders across industries like Darin Harris, Danny Meyer, Barry McGowan and Charles Watson, CFE, we are joining forces to help create a future where every child has access to three nutritious meals, 365 days a year. By joining this pledge, we commit to mobilize our brands by investing dollars, raising awareness, and using our platforms to help increase the number of children receiving summer meals from 2.8 million to 30 million nationwide. This pledge is a call to action to lead by example. I hope that you’ll consider joining me in this important cause to ensure a brighter future for tomorrow’s leaders. #NoKidHungry #Dennys
