Bob Hinkle spoke at a Nov. 16 COP29 press conference with business leaders on solutions to bridge the clean energy investment and deployment gap. (Webcast: https://lnkd.in/gbsh3G3t) Bob called on financing companies to do a better job of explaining the “right-now” business value of investing in sustainable energy projects. Structuring financial solutions to outcomes—like availability of cooling & heating or air quality levels—that matter most to customers and building owners is critical. Historic day for my colleagues, the administration and the country. “President Biden and Vice President Harris have put communities at the center of their Investing in America agenda. Today, we’re putting an unprecedented $20 billion to work in communities that for too long have been shut out of resources to lower costs and benefit from clean technology solutions,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. “The selectees announced today will deliver transformational investments for American communities, businesses, and families and unleash tens of thousands of clean technology projects like putting solar on small businesses, electrifying affordable housing, providing EV loans for young families, and countless others. That translates to good-paying jobs, energy bill savings, and cleaner air, all while delivering on President Biden’s historic agenda to combat climate change.”

Is Nature Investing the next Solar…? This idea came up at a brekkie during London Climate Action Week with Robert Gardner, who sits at the juncture of Institutional Finance and Nature. He’s one of the few people that’s raised an idea I’ve been obsessed with for months: What happened to infrastructure investing will happen to Nature Investing, but we need it to happen faster You see, Infra wasn’t always the hot investing space it is now It was an ‘investment backwater’ (says the Financial Times) Now it’s a $1.3trillion asset class 20 years ago investors didn’t think it was ‘investable’ or ‘institutional scale’, and now those investors are allocating hundreds of billions into the space, because it matured Nature investing is maturing right now, and at a far faster rate than infra did If we can learn from the maturity of infrastructure investing, and get Nature to where infrastructure is, in, say, 5 years vs 20, we can close the $830billion #nature investing and protect / regenerate the oceans / forests / food systems that’d be great to have around in 20 years Let’s normalize nature investing #normalizenature #naturefinance #climatefinance

New analysis for The Nature Conservancy in partnership with AECOM reveals decarbonization initiatives would generate significant benefits to Florida's economy 🌱 📈   Our report uses our state-level macroeconomic model E3-US to quantify the economic impacts of multi-sector decarbonization pathways in Florida, including transitioning away from fossil fuel-based electric power generation. We estimate that by 2050, decarbonization initiatives could decrease the cost of electricity for consumers by around 17% and result in a state economy that is 2% larger.
