I spend more time on preparing and strategy than I do execution. Once something is well thought out, prepared and has a proper strategy, the execution is the easy part. We need to give ourselves time for deep thinking and strategy, not just the execution part or what we as a society call 'work'. Great effective ideas and strategy will give you 10x the results of just working on things that haven't been well thought out.

No strategy is perfect, but mindful iteration will make it better. Good strategy helps you make decisions about execution. Good execution helps you make decisions about your strategy.

I see Peter’s point. While good execution with no strategy is better than good strategy with no execution. Both will sink your company. This is back to the parable of the coach who sees two runners getting to first base at the same speed. The coach is asked to pick which one he’d like to train. He said he would pick the guy with bad form… cause he can train good form and he’ll be faster. Now the question is… which one is form and which one is raw speed? I vote that strategy is form.
It's ironic that junior folks think strategy work is harder (and more glamorous) than execution work but senior folks know that execution beats strategy every time. Quote from Ami Vora (CPO Faire): "[If I'm good at execution] I don’t just have one shot to create a perfect strategy — I have a shot every day to ship something, learn what works, and then update my principles to ship an even better product tomorrow."

Making Your Plan a Reality: Why Strategy and Action Need to Work Together As a small manufacturer, you've got big goals. That's where a solid strategy comes in—it's your roadmap to success. But just having a plan isn't enough. To really make things happen, you need to put that strategy into action. Think of it like this: your strategy is the "what" (what you want to achieve), and execution is the "how" (how you're going to get there). When these two things work hand-in-hand, it's like a well-oiled machine. Everyone knows their role, communication is smooth, and everyone is working towards the same targets. This means less confusion, less wasted effort, and a much better chance of hitting those goals and growing your business. #strategy #execution #manufacturing

Execution problems aren’t always about the strategy—they’re about the people, processes, and culture trying to carry it out. Even the best strategy can fail without the right team and infrastructure to back it up.

I think this is BS If your strategy doesn’t include a plan for how to effectively execute, it wasn’t an award-winning strategy to begin with. Execution isn’t a separate activity—it’s the proof of a great strategy. A real strategy aligns vision with action, ensuring the path to results is clear, actionable, and achievable. The best teams don’t just plan, they plan to deliver. What’s your approach to bridging strategy and execution? Sound off in the comments 🎙️
