It’s interesting that so many of us in the sales profession think that cold calls or unsolicited emails are the key to building sales results. Cold calls are a necessary activity but instead of going in blind and hoping the target will give us something to pursue, I think it’s better to bring them something of value. Cold calls should be about the customer, not a box to tick towards filling our day with sales like activities.

"Yeah yeah I definitely agree with whatever you're saying." This is what you should be saying to prospects on calls. Agree with their current situation and try to get on the same page as them. This will make closing deals alot easier since the prospect sees you as someone who's actually listening to them, and not just there to sell an offer.

Sometimes prospects hang up on you mid call, mid sentence and that’s ok. It’s probably appreciated more than when they make up really silly objections that aren’t based in reality. They know they can’t overcome your rebuttals so they give up. Next time you call them (and there better be a next time) it may go very differently. Play the long game.
