Pictionary for Lawyers One of my first experiences bringing a game to work was an offsite - back during the time when offsites were about building the relationships between team members. I decided, for some reason, that my team of sales negotiators should play Pictionary. Yep, the game where your team has one person draw a secret card, then that team member draws something, and the other team members have 60 seconds to guess the word from the drawing... I really, really should have read the wikihow on how to play Pictionary first. Really. Step 5 is "Clarify how precise an answer should be before you start. Chat with your friends about house rules right away so you don’t get into a dispute later in the game. Discuss if players need to say the full prompt to win a round or if you’ll accept shortened or partial answers." We did not discuss this in advance. We did, however, discuss this, at length, during every round of the game. In our personae as lawyers and negotiators. One of the people at that game still claims to have flashbacks from that offsite. Moral of the story, it is difficult to anticipate how an off-the-shelf game will land when playing it with a group for a reason. Just because it worked for my group at home did not prepare me for my co-worker's unique argumentative skills - which were part of their day-to-day job!

Know your worth
Managing Director- R & D Tax Credit Specialist - Helping Innovative Businesses Reclaim Money From HMRC - specialist in vegan food companies and eco businesses
Very proud of my daughter for sticking to her guns on pricing ! She’s 18 years old and recently moved to Cyprus , she’s set up a pet sitting business over there . As many of us know starting up a business is tough and it can be tempting to do work at lower rates , but it’s really important to know your worth !

Success in business and sales, as in marriage, means that "closing the deal" is not the finish line. It's the beginning of an ever-deepening relationship of trust. When you find great customers and strategic partners who give you energy... Cherish them. Those are relationships you should never take for granted, neglect, or allow to get stale. #SystematicSelling #Sales

Thirty years ago today—April 9, 1994—Jennifer Lyden and I went on our first date: a picnic on the beautiful quad at Samford University. In sales, we call that the "Discovery Meeting." You might say it went very well. After several follow-up "Meetings" and connecting with the other stakeholders (her parents), I submitted my "Proposal" that Thanksgiving, which she approved immediately. (Who does that???) We finally "Closed" the deal on June 10, 1995. The most consequential sale I've ever made ❤️ #SystematicSelling #Sales

As an East Tennessee native, Dollywood is a summer must for me. 🦋 After a long ☀ day at Dollywood yesterday, I was reflecting on the customer experience. I believe Dolly Parton can teach us a lot about serving customers and being a solid salesperson (And Forbes agrees, as they put Dollywood in the top 1% for customer service). A few things I was reminded of... 1️⃣ The pinto beans, cornbread, pork rinds, and bluegrass music reminded me that as a salesperson, authenticity will always win. Be who you are, be honest, and don't be ashamed to be confident in what you ARE good at. 2️⃣ The lounging chair stations, misters, and abundant air conditioning reminded me that sometimes you need to give your customer space to take a moment and think. Pressure (be it time or verbal) can backfire. 3️⃣ The diverse staff at Dollywood (e.g., all generations, many nations) reminded me that all customers come to the table with their own sets of beliefs, ideas, needs, and concerns. Try to leave assumptions and a one-size-fits-all approach at home. Ask good questions and truly listen. Plus, the more diverse customers you can interact with, the better you learn to pivot and adapt. I am biased, as Dolly has been a hero for us in this area since we were kids, but whether you like her or not, she has figured something out...and I think we can all learn from it. Lastly, Dollywood pro-tip....ALWAYS get the cinnamon bread. 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 #dolly #dollyparton #sales #customerexperience #customerservice #clemson #clemsonuniversity #tennessee

Creating connections with someone new is easy for me; meeting people has always been fun. I've said that attending a convention was work, but if I made an effort, it was one of the most enjoyable times of my life. When I look at these pictures, I see that joy is true in my smile. I was able to spend time with Spencer and Victoria, with my partner @Filevine, Harry with @BritishTailors, Roy with @trivent-systems-pvt-ltd, the team at @Clio, and my long-time friend @JohnRomano, talking about opportunities to join him on the @Connectionology webinars. If you're in sales, get outside and meet people. Find a way to put a smile on your face because you made a difference today! #onepercentbetter #legaltech #meetnewpeople #makeadifference #salesexperience #partnerships
