Effective strategies for regression testing in agile environments can make or break your project's success. Here is one of my biggest learnings from this year: 🔍 Conduct thorough impact analysis before running regression tests. This helps identify critical areas to focus on. 📊 Prioritize test cases based on risk and impact to save time and resources. 🔄 Automate repetitive test cases to increase efficiency and speed up the testing process. #SoftwareTesting #RegressionTesting #Aglie

#Day13 of #21days21tips from The Test Chat Today's tip is focused on everyone who is working on an agile project or at least the project claims to be agile... "Most of us are working on agile projects. The role of testers becomes crucial and testing is a very important aspect of these agile projects. It's crucial to embed testing within the definition of done—don't let it be an afterthought. Collaborate actively with your team to integrate rigorous testing standards that everyone respects and follows. This ensures that every release meets not just technical requirements, but also quality expectations. Remember, a feature isn't done until it's fully tested. Let's make quality a collective responsibility." #softwaretesting #testinginagile #teamwork #definitionofdone #brijeshsays

I recently had an insightful conversation with a fellow IT practitioner who raised a very crucial point: Why do we often stop testing when we hit budget or time constraints? After all, we don’t stop coding when we run out of time-teams continue coding until the required functionality is implemented, even if it means exceeding the initial timeline or budget. While many organizations have adopted some sort of Agile frameworks, the challenge still remains: How do we balance testing efforts with the need to deliver on time? A PM once shared with me, "If we try to test everything, we’ll never get to production." That’s the kind of real-world dilemma we face daily. It leads to important questions: How much should we test? What should we test? How long should we spend on testing? Ultimately, this is where continuous, proactive conversations come into play. Testing should be considered early and often - even before development begins. Teams should discuss and define what to test, how to test it, and what can be automated to ensure sufficient coverage while minimizing risk. The focus should be on quality from the start - by engaging in discussions around requirements, exploring options, reviewing technical design/implementation and incorporating risk-based testing. This proactive approach not only addresses testing needs but ensures that the team is aligned on delivering quality without cutting corners. So, let’s encourage these conversations from day one! After all, quality isn’t something we can simply add at the end of the process. #QualityAssurance #Agile #Scrum #SoftwareDevelopment #Testing #RiskBasedTesting #TeamCollaboration #ContinuousImprovement #QA #TestAutomation

𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝟭𝟲𝟰: 𝗔𝗴𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗻 The shift from waterfall to agile methodologies has significantly transformed the role of testers. In this episode, Lisa Crispin underscores the tester's pivotal position within an agile development team. Unlike the traditional waterfall model where testers were quality gatekeepers, agile emphasizes customer ownership of quality. While programmers focus on unit testing, testers bring a broader perspective, collaborating closely with the team to define test scenarios through use cases and workflows. Test automation is essential for regression testing, freeing up time for exploratory testing, which is invaluable for uncovering unexpected issues. While test coverage metrics can be helpful, they shouldn't be the sole focus. Automation should prioritize smoke tests and heavily used functionalities, leaving manual testing for user interface exploration. Addressing non-functional requirements like usability, performance, and security is crucial. Techniques such as early usability testing with prototypes and leveraging external expertise for performance and security are recommended. Integration testing remains vital, and continuous integration practices are increasingly adopted. Cultivating a culture that supports test automation, including dedicated learning time, is essential. Most importantly, testers should shift their mindset from defect finding to becoming valuable contributors to the team's success. By embracing agile principles and continuously learning, testers can excel in this evolving role. #agiletesting #softwaretesting #testautomation #exploratorytesting #nonfunctionaltesting #continuousintegration https://lnkd.in/gnzS-3jg
