💡 SQL Query Insight: Calculating Month-over-Month Revenue Change 📊 In my latest SQL challenge, I worked on calculating the month-over-month percentage change in revenue. The task was to: Compute the percentage change in revenue from one month to the next. Display results in a YYYY-MM format. Round the percentage change to 2 decimal places. Here’s the solution: WITH monthly_revenue AS (   SELECT      created_at,     SUM(value) AS trans_amt   FROM sf_transactions   GROUP BY YEAR(created_at), MONTH(created_at) ) SELECT SUBSTRING(created_at, 1, 7) AS ym,     ROUND(((trans_amt - LAG(trans_amt) OVER (ORDER BY created_at)) /         LAG(trans_amt) OVER (ORDER BY created_at)) * 100, 2) AS revenue_diff_pct FROM monthly_revenue ORDER BY ym; 🔍 Key Highlights: LAG Function: This function helps access the revenue from the previous month, making it easy to compute the percentage change. Rounded Output: The final revenue change is rounded to 2 decimal places for better readability.
