SCADA time-series data is critical for utilities to monitor usage, optimize operations, and uncover inefficiencies. But traditional formats like SCADA interfaces, spreadsheets, and Power BI can be challenging for people with a vision impairment. We're committed to delivering accessible, high-impact tools for all utility staff. This blog describes a recent collaboration with WaterAble and Greater Western Water - and we thank them for this. 💌 #DisabilityInclusion #WaterUtilities #SmartWater #DigitalUtility #WaterManagement #WaterLoss #DataMining #Water

SAVE is a novel Artificial Intelligence (AI) software (for the power system operator) that will facilitate effective power system stability assessment, visualization, and enhancement. SAVE software can utilize real time measurements and full system observability to reliably predict the power system stability in the presence of uncertainty resulting from renewable power generation and load demand. As its core, SAVE software applies advanced artificial intelligence, deep learning and system identification techniques for power system stability assessment. They demonstrated superior performance in terms of capturing the inherent dynamic characteristics of a power grid and thus can be used to provide fast and accurate predictions for small signal and transient stabilities of power grid with renewable energy integration. "Predictive maintenance predominantly relies on actual operating data rather than asset runtime alone. Though the technology may record an abundance of data, more scrutiny may be placed on the tools used for collection and not the underlying trends they should uncover...The challenge, therefore, lies not in gathering more information but in accessing and interpreting this data effectively." See how our CEO of Automation, Jackie Hu, emphasises the need for a balanced approach in maintaining combined cycle power plants, combining digital predictive maintenance tools with hands-on engineering expertise in POWER magazine. #Engineering #IMI #PowerIndustry

Flow Computers for Natural Gas Flow Measurement & Custody Transfer Metering of Natural Gas (NG): Functions, Inputs & Outputs and Calibration Methods in-Situ- PART 1 Flow computers are electronic devices that are used to measure, calculate, and process the flow rate of fluids such as Natural gas. In the context of Natural gas flow measurement, flow computers play a crucial role in ensuring accurate measurement and billing of the gas being transported. Some of the key uses of flow computers in natural gas flow measurement include: 1)Measurement accuracy: Flow computers can accurately measure the flow rate of natural gas in pipelines, which is critical for determining the amount of gas being transported and billing customers accordingly. 2)Real-time monitoring: Flow computers can provide real-time monitoring of natural gas flow rates, allowing operators to detect and respond to any issues that may arise. 3)Data logging: Flow computers can store data related to natural gas flow rates, allowing operators to analyze data. 4)Calculation of gas properties: Flow computers can input & calculate various gas properties such as temperature, pressure, and density, composition etc., which are necessary for accurate NG flow measurement. 5)Communication and integration: Flow computers can communicate with other devicessuch as flow meters, valves, and control systems, Overall, flow computers ensure accurate, reliable, and efficient Custody Transfer Natural gas flow measurement. Flow Computers INPUT/OUTPUT Parameters for Custody Transfer Metering: 1) Gas flow rate: This is the primary parameter that flow computers are designed to measure. 2) Gas pressure: Flow computers measure gas pressure in the pipeline.3) Gas temperature: The temperature of the gas being transported is another key input parameter.3) Gas composition 4)Local g Value is another Input parameter. 5) Pipe diameter: The diameter of the pipeline through which the gas is flowing is also an important input parameter for flow computers. 6) Atmospheric pressure: The pressure of the atmosphere is another input. The Commonly used Flow Computers with Different Natural Gas Flow meters are: 1) Orifice Plate Flow Computers2) Ultrasonic Flow Computers: Ultrasonic flow computers use an Ultrasonic Gas Flowmeter with ultrasonic sensors to measure the flow rate of NG. 3) Turbine Flow Computers: Turbine flow computers are used with a Turbine NG Flow meter The Major Output parameters of a Flow computer are: 1)Flow Rate: The primary output of flow computers used in natural gas flow measurement is the flow rate of gas, typically in units of cubic feet per hour (CFH), cubic meters per hour (CMH), or standard cubic feet per hour (SCFH), or Mass Flow rate of NG, in Kg/hr. 2) Totalizer: Flow computers may also provide a running total of the amount of gas. 3) Alarms and alerts The Commonly adopted Methods for Calibration of Natural Gas Metering Flow computers will be detailed in Part 2 , of the Write up, on the Same Topic.

To better understand the benefits of Ignition as a platform: picture yourself tasked with creating a report. You start by collecting information from various sources, initially dumping everything into one document. This document serves as your melting pot, where you begin to give structure to chaos—sorting, categorising, and highlighting what’s crucial. For this specific report, you only take from the document what you need. For a future one, you’ll go into your well-organised document and pick other sections to use. That, my friend, is why a platform that gathers and structures your production data, and then uses it for different functionalities, is key for your productivity. In a nutshell, the platform is the middleman between data and decisions. We explain our thinking in our latest article, and summarise the benefits in an easy-to-understand table at the end: https://lnkd.in/dybRJhq8 #ignition #industrialautomation #digitaltransformation

One of the biggest blockers to the energy transition is meeting new demand for electricity. We tend to think of this as a generation problem, but the real bottleneck is interconnection to the grid. Congruent (Camus' favorite climate investor) put out a great article on challenges and opportunities in the interconnection space. This is why we've recently been all in on Flexible Interconnection technology. Adding flexibility to new load and new generation allows us to get a LOT more out of the existing grid, and can speed up deployments from years to months. https://lnkd.in/gNDhJ72S
