Thinking about investing in a short-term rental in a high-rise? You may want to pick a different investment strategy. Over the last few weeks, multiple buyers have contacted me asking about buying a condo in Midtown that they can rent in the short term. The truth is that most buildings have a limit on rentals and a 2-3-year waitlist. Furthermore, the demand is so high that you will lose your rental permit if it takes you too long to find a new renter after your previous one moves out. I experienced this recently when I was only given 90 days between renters or subject to revoking my permit.
