Energy data is paramount to the Inflation Reduction Act Home Efficiency Rebates (HOMES) Program, however most State Energy Offices (SEOs) do not have direct access to utility data. Luckily, collecting energy usage data isn’t complicated, and states can put the responsibility for collecting it on market actors like aggregators. By focusing on the data access solutions that exist today, states can get their HOMES Programs up and running quickly. https://lnkd.in/e_8x6bf2

Did you know that 56% of Americans surveyed were not familiar with the benefits of a home battery system 🔋, but 73% agreed that solar is a good home investment ☀? Here are three insights that can drive battery storage sales: ⛈ Battery storage can help homeowners be more resilient during grid instability and extreme weather. ⚡ Costs of electricity have risen in the U.S., outpacing inflation. Time-of-Use schedules allow homeowners to store energy when it’s least expensive and dispense it during peak pricing hours. 🏛 Legislation, such as the Inflation Reduction Act, offer homeowners the Investment Tax Credit for solar and energy storage. The tax credit can be worth up to 30% of qualified costs. https://lnkd.in/gnUt6BQw #BatteryStorage #EnergyStorage #ResidentialSolar #SolarSales

Yes, thanks Advanced Energy United - a concise, clear explainer about #utility fixed charges, and why the Nevada proposed rate design change shouldn't be enabled. "Typically, utility bills are based on actual electricity and gas usage, perhaps with a modest fixed charge, but recently utilities have been proposing very large fixed charges on top of their already-approved charges and per-usage rates." https://lnkd.in/eCYiqK64

#Energy costs are going up and are the second largest line item on a property budget behind taxes. #Utility tariff structures change annually and every year they are more complex. Given the state of the real estate market, where so much is out of your control, don't let #energymanagement be an after thought. The good news is, in many markets you have options when it comes to which rate your building is on for T&D. The calculation depends on your load profile and is a trade off between your standard kwh price (higher or lower) and your demand charges (higher or lower). One of the easiest steps to control your energy costs is to make sure the asset is on the most cost effective rate. No operational changes required...just an email to your utility rep... Gridium helped our customers save $5.5m in energy costs in 2023 alone just by switching rates. While others will take a cut of the savings, Gridium does this as annually as your energy management partner... Stop leaving #NOI and #NAV on the table.

With electricity prices soaring above $0.25/kWh in many areas, homeowners are finding that going off-grid with solar and storage is becoming an economically sound option. Recent price drops in solar modules and batteries, along with incentives from the Inflation Reduction Act, are making this transition more appealing than ever! Cities like Honolulu, San Diego, and San Francisco are leading the charge. For instance, an off-grid solar and storage system in Honolulu could save homeowners over $120,000 in avoided electricity costs over time with an initial investment of about $34,000. Talk about substantial savings! A study from Western University reveals that various regions across the U.S. are ripe for grid defection, depending on local electricity prices and incentives. While some areas, like Boston, find economic viability through tax credits, others, like Rutland and Seattle, face higher costs by disconnecting from the grid. As energy prices continue to fluctuate, it's clear: the case for going off-grid is getting stronger. Policymakers should take note and work towards sustainable rate structures that encourage innovation rather than grid defection.
