Let's talk mastless... 🌟 What's the advantages? 1. Masted systems are fixed to the blade and are susceptible to damage. Mastless system antennas are fixed safely to the cab roof. 😱 2. Masted systems are measured down from the receiver and across to the cutting blade at 90 degrees, meaning there is little compensation for forward and backward tilt. Mastless systems are installed with multi directional tilt sensors on the body, frame and blade of the dozer. Each moving part is then measured and the sensors calibrated. This means that whichever angle the blade is at, an accurate position is achieved, providing excellent results on complex cuts and work on batters. 😲 3. As with most up to date technology, mastless systems provide quicker and smoother responses which work more efficiently with hydraulic systems. Griffiths have invested in multiple mastless systems across their fleet of dozers. Ensuring the correct cut, everytime. Great tips for where to point the tip!
Machine Control Pro Tip: The Importance of Antenna Angle Radio signals are not emitted from the top or bottom of an antenna, but from the sides. This means that keeping your antenna vertical on your base and rover is crucial. If your antenna is tilted too far, the signal could bypass your equipment, resulting in intermittent or no reception. This principle is especially important if your base antenna is located at a high point on your site and you’re operating in a valley - the radio signal could easily pass over your equipment. Seen it happen. While excessive distance to the base, physical obstacles, interference, or damaged antenna/cabling are common causes of radio issues, adjusting your antenna to the correct angle is a simple first step in troubleshooting. This advice applies to both UHF and 900MHz frequencies, but it’s particularly relevant for the higher frequencies. Thumbs up to Trimble Inc. for the clear and straightforward graphic below. 14 Years of Fault-Free Performance: A Great Piece of Tech for Maritime Applications! Ship weather stations must withstand extreme conditions: saltwater, vibrations, exhaust gases, and high wind speeds put both mechanics and electronics under great strain. Our system components are specifically designed for these demands, robust against corrosion and highly reliable, especially for use in maritime environments. The data is transmitted directly to the ship’s bridge, continuously providing precise weather and wind data for safe navigation and maneuvering. Accurate wind data is crucial, especially during docking maneuvers in harbors or when navigating narrow passages. Thanks to its rugged design and NMEA compatibility, our technology is the reliable choice for maritime applications – whether along the coast, in the harbor, or out at sea. A big thank you to Phil Golding, Electro-Technical Officer on a vessel, for the fantastic feedback – we appreciate your recognition! Phil perfectly captures the quality of our technology: „On my vessel, a 2D Ultrasonic wind sensor from Thies CLIMA with an LED display unit for wind speed and direction is installed. It was mounted 14 years ago and has worked fault-free up to today. A great piece of equipment!" #ThiesCLIMA #Windsensor #NmeaCompatibility #RuggedDesign
