Diabetes can significantly affect wound healing, particularly in cases of pressure ulcers, due to its impact on vascular health. The reduced blood flow caused by diabetes-related vascular complications like peripheral arterial disease and microvascular dysfunction limits oxygen and nutrient delivery to tissues. This compromises tissue regeneration and increases susceptibility to injury. Proper wound care management for diabetic patients must focus on improving circulation and reducing the risk of pressure ulcers.
