"Last presentation for Royal Roads University. Feeling nervous, as it's a random and among university program head, professors, and fellow students. As an international student, it’s a true test of your real character. Real-life learning goes far beyond classroom lessons—it’s a test of resilience, overcoming hurdles, and trust in your will power. The journey has been a powerful experience, shaping who I am today. Learning from others has been a key part of becoming a Master of Global Management."

With A-level results day tomorrow, I’d like to emphasise something very important: Please be mindful that everyone has different goals and expectations of themselves: → Some people are trying to get into their dream University. → Some people need certain grades for their reapplication process next year. → Some people don’t care about their grades and sat the exams for closure, and are now planning to double down on their side hustle. → Some people have had the toughest year of their life, and have still managed to come out of the other side. So here’s the simple question I ask after exam results: “Are you happy?” That’s all that matters right? If they’re happy, amazing! Celebrate with them, and be happy for them. If they’re not, be a good friend and ask them how you can best support them. But remember if it’s gone well for you, despite how it’s gone for other people, it’s okay to celebrate your success. And most importantly: celebrate everyone’s incredible hard work. To everyone expecting results tomorrow, absolute best of luck to you all. Be proud of yourself and your hard work. Hoping to see many new faces at UCL this September!!

Currently studying for your MBA at Henley, or recently graduated? Click below to complete Chris Dalton’s survey on your Personal Development during and after your programme. Many thanks. Henley Business School #mba #executiveeducation #emba #thehenleydifference
Author, educator, facilitator and creatively bewildered human being. Associate Professor at Henley Business School, FHEA, CMBE
Calling my Henley MBA network... Below is a link to a survey I am running for current MBAs and alumni. The survey assesses whether and how my Personal Development course (and my teaching and facilitation in the Henley MBA programme since 2010) have influenced your outlook on the world and your actions and behaviours. The information gathered will support my nomination and claim for the 2025 National Teaching Fellowship Scheme. Only 55 National Teaching Fellowships are awarded each year in the UK, and to win one is considered a strong endorsement of a contribution to education. I was nominated in 2014, and though my claim was not successful, I received very encouraging feedback, and the suggestion that I gather more concrete examples and evidence of impact. If it exists, it is out there with you. https://lnkd.in/es_Fqkv2 Thanks! And please forward this to others in your Henley network if you think it will resonate.

Dear Student: Hope this letter finds you in smiling health and sound mind. As you embark on your journey to learn, unlearn, relearn, and explore in your global village, I wish you all the best you can afford to put into your studies. Just a reminder: the road to success is often not an easy one; it is filled with shots, thorns, and moments of uncertainty. It is a dangling moment, rich with opportunities for growth and self-discovery, but also marked by storms that can feel daunting. Your journey might be strenuous, but you can still storm every storm that is there within. It is your commitment, smart work, resilience, and discipline that will eventually shape your learning experience and pave the way for your future. While your teachers guide you with their knowledge, support, and encouragement, and your administrators provide valuable recommendations and resources, remember that the true drive must come from within. Remember, you are the captain of your ship, the one who truly understands that assigned compass to navigate through the rough and tough shots of your journey. In this global village, you will encounter diverse perspectives and new ideas that will challenge your thinking, but as Apostle Joshua Selman once stated in one of his leadership table discussions, "DEVLOPE THE PASSION TO LEARN, THE PASSION TO BE TRANSFORMED AND THE COURAGE TO EXECUTE WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED". I wholeheartedly believe in your ability to navigate this path with strength and purpose - the original intention of pursuing your goal. Approach each day to learn and grow, and never underestimate your power in shaping your future. Every step taken each day m drives you closer to reaching your goal, so don't quit. Lastly, your teachers may not have all of the answers, but what I do believe is that they have the HEARTS TO CARE, EARS TO LISTEN, TIME TO GIVE, AND IDEAS TO SHARE. I look forward to seeing you mount your wings and conquer your fears as you approach this academic year with all your might. Thank you. Yours in Education Odacious Nah Shain Servant Leader & Educator

Alhamdulillah for everything, I am nothing without His mercy!! During my recent graduation ceremony, two powerful messages deeply resonated with me. Zeinab Badawi, President of SOAS University of London , reminded us of the importance of using our education wisely in today’s world of disinformation. She emphasized the value of critical thinking and its role in shaping a better future. Lord Dr. Michael Hastings of Scarisbrick, CBE, Chair of the SOAS Board of Trustees, urged us to remain curious and not settle for low ambitions. He spoke about the importance of kindness in leadership and reminded us to let go of unnecessary limitations. His words about how kindness reflects true leadership struck a powerful chord, inspiring me to use my education to uplift others. This graduation wasn’t just a personal milestone—it was a moment of deep reflection on how I want to move forward. Standing there with my four amazing children, who have been my strength and constant inspiration, I realized this journey has always been about more than myself. Seeing their pride made all the hard work worthwhile, as did the support from my parents. As I step into the future, inspired , I feel determined to embrace every challenge with kindness, empathy, and a commitment to give back. Thank you, SOAS University of London , for being a part of this incredible journey. Here’s to the next chapter of learning, leading with kindness, and making a difference. #Graduation #LifelongLearning #NewBeginnings #Gratitude #MasterDegree #ProudParent #GivingBack #Inspiration #JourneyContinues #SOAS #Kindness #Leadership #Empathy

Waiting or letting go can be a painful choice, filled with doubt and uncertainty. It’s a lonely place where hope clashes with reality, leaving you questioning your instincts. Yet, within that confusion lies your strength. Listen to your heart; it knows the truth. Time will bring clarity, but don’t let uncertainty steal your joy. Whether you choose to wait or move on, own your decision. The worst feeling isn’t just not knowing; it’s allowing that uncertainty to rob you of living fully. Follow The Management Diary to stay inspired. ----------------------- If you are applying for Chevening scholarships this year, catch up with our conversation with a current scholar on how you can make a successful application here: https://lnkd.in/djf4tuBp
