Enhancing Cybersecurity for Homebuyers and Sellers: Tips from a REALTOR At Midnight this morning / last night, I got a notification on my phone that was asking me to enter my security code to reset my password for my email. It wasn’t me that made the request. I checked my access log for the service provider and it seems that someone is trying to access my accounts every day multiple times a day from all over the globe. It’s the downside of having my email address and socials public for over 20 years. In today’s digital world, cybersecurity is crucial for everyone, especially in real estate transactions. As a REALTOR, protecting your clients' sensitive information is not just good practice—it's essential. Here are some key tips: **Secure Passwords:** - Use passwords that are at least 12 characters long with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. - Avoid reusing passwords across multiple accounts. - Steer clear of common passwords like "password123". - Consider using a password manager. **Two-Factor Authentication (2FA):** - Adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of verification. - Even if a cybercriminal obtains your password, they can’t access your account without the second factor. - Quick and easy to set up on most platforms. **For Real Estate Professionals:** - Educate your clients about the importance of secure passwords and 2FA. - Use secure communication channels for sensitive information. - Encourage clients to regularly update their passwords. - Raise awareness about phishing attempts. By implementing these practices, you can protect your clients’ data and build trust in your services. Let’s prioritize cybersecurity and keep our transactions safe! #CyberSecurity #RealEstate #RealtorTips #SecurePasswords #2FA #ClientSafety #DigitalSecurity #REALTOR
