It’s #InternationalCavaDay! On this day, we celebrate the origins, craftsmanship and exquisite taste of this unique sparkling wine with origins in Catalonia, Spain. Inspired by the success of Champagne in France, Josep Raventós crafted the first ‘Cava’ in 1872 using the resilient white grape varieties of the vineyards of Penedès. Since then, Xarel-lo, Macabeo and Parellada continue to be at the core of #Cava production, though Chardonnay, Garnacha, Subirat Parent, Trepat, Pinot Noir, Monastrell are also authorized for (and are used in) the production of white and rosado styles. Let’s raise a collective toast to this effervescent treasure of Spain, and the diversity, versatility and dynamism it brings to our glasses! #InternationalCavaDay #DiscoverCava #CavaHistory #CelebrateWithCava #tastesavoir #tasteknowledge

Wine Focus: Minuty Prestige Rose; This cuvée is the result of a meticulous blending of a selection of grapes from the Appellation with those from the estate. Everything is vinified at controlled temperatures, low enough to preserve the aromatic potential of the grapes, but high enough to extract their subtleties. Grenache is blended for elegant aromas, Syrah for aromatic complexity, Cinsault for freshness and Rolle, the great white variety of Provence, which adds mineral aromas to the wine. Château Minuty

"OLTRENERO IN OLTREPÒ: LIVELY DYNAMISM AND AUTHENTIC PINOT NOIR Zenevredo is not only an ideal destination for a day trip, but it is also a must-visit for anyone wanting to discover Oltrepò Pavese; moreover, it offers a unique blend of cultural experiences and stunning landscapes. It is a charming village in the province of Pavia. Its name comes from the Latin word ‘ginepretum,’ which refers to the fascinating juniper berries that have adorned the surrounding hills since the Middle Ages. The origins of the Oltrenero Estate date back to that period. During this time, Benedictine monks restored the land after a long period of abandonment and they successfully brought the vineyards back to life. This region, also known as “Old Piedmont,” witnessed the birth of Italian sparkling wine production at the end of the 19th century, thanks to the use of Pinot Nero grapes. This high-quality varietal works exceptionally well for white vinification and creates refined sparkling wines made using the classic method. What greets us at the estate is the symbol of Oltrenero. It is a circle that represents the company’s philosophy. This symbolizes a continuous and harmonious movement that regenerates endlessly. The company constantly strives for perfection. The circle is a geometric figure. It evokes the symbol of life and expresses completeness, uniformity, and the absence of separation. On the other hand, the dynamism embodied in this symbol reflects a constant desire for improvement. It also signifies growth towards ever higher ideals. This is evident in the fact that every year the company introduces innovations and experiments aimed at continuous improvement." Thank you to Winston Art Group and Heritage Family Offices, LLP for an engaging evening discussing the intersection of wine, art, and collectibles. We delved into the wine markets and their collectible counterparts, focusing on three key concepts and their paired wine and art selections. 🍷 Bereche & Fils, a grower champagne, represents an emerging category with potential risks but significant upside. Notably, wines like Jacques Selosse have seen a remarkable 21% annual increase at auction over the last 5 years, making them appealing for The Cask100 Fund. 🍷 Ornellaia Serre Nuove exemplifies the middle market, showcasing the relative value of Italian wines, especially Super Tuscans. Despite recent market challenges, wines like the 2021 Ornellaia have seen a substantial 24% retail price increase since March. 🍷 Leoville Las Cases 'Clos du Marquis' symbolizes the traditional Bordeaux market, known for its history and stability. While these wines may not yield huge returns, they have demonstrated consistency. Despite a temporary drop post-Covid, Leoville Las Cases has seen an overall increase over the past 5 years. We are looking forward to more discussions in the future!

Why Pinot Noir Is Called What It Is Pinot Noir – a wine renowned for its flavor and elegance. But have you ever wondered why it’s called “Pinot Noir”? Let’s dive into the story behind its name, a fascinating blend of nature and language. Picture this: in France, where it all began, the Pinot Noir grape grows in clusters resembling pinecones. Hence, “Pinot” comes from the French word for pine. And “Noir” means black, perfectly describing the grape’s deep, dark color when fully ripe. But it’s more than just a name; it’s a legacy. For centuries, winemakers have nurtured this grape variety, from the ancient vineyards of Burgundy to the hills of California. Each sip of Pinot Noir reflects this history and craftsmanship, inviting us to appreciate not just its taste but also the rich culture behind it. So, the next time you enjoy a glass of Pinot Noir, remember the story woven into its name – a story of nature’s beauty, human ingenuity, and the timeless pursuit of excellence. Cheers to the enchanting world of wine, where every sip tells a story of its own.
