Quantity Surveyors are NOT that necessary... 🫢 Are they? Just Imagine This:   You're starting a new project. Everything seems under control – exciting plans, a talented team. But then... 🤯Costs spiral out of control.  🤯Delays become the norm.  🤯Penalties start to add up Doesn't sound exciting, does it? #quantitysurveying is one of the most critical subjects for keeping a healthy business. However #QuantitySurveyors are not always perceived as a valuable asset. Work conditions can be challenging. 😩😩😩 😩Long hours 😩tight deadlines 😩Unrealistic demands Talent is already scarce and if we don't take care of it and make it attractive for new generations And an industry that lives off small margins will suffer the consequences Thoughts? #Construction #Careers #quantitysurveying #worklifebalance

"I could manage this job myself, why are you guys so expensive" First let's assume they could (no insurance or license), lets talk about the amount of people we manage on a given job: - Our team of 6 - Architect/ Engineer - Surveyor - City inspectors - Demolition - Framer - Plumber - Electrician - HVAC - Insulation - Drywall - Siding/Roof - Painter - Finish Carpentry - Landscapers If we are managing the project for a client, we are also working to update them a minimum of 3-4 times per week with photos/videos, an updated progress schedule, and anything relevant at the moment. If we are managing the project for ourselves, we are also working with banks/lenders, private lenders, insurance company, etc. People don't realize how labor intensive every construction job is. Things don't just happen to plan. It is constant management of schedules, personalities, budgets, you name it. Before I got into this business, I was a DIY guy. After doing this professionally, I will never DIY anything 😂

How should a Quantity surveyor plan and organise his work in day to day life ??? In terms of below ,but not limited 1) Identify and set objectives ? 2) Measure the performance of the set objectives? 3) Develop a team relationship and identified the learning needs of the team , sub-ordinates including sub contractors ,operatives or others?
