This article is written by a lawyer so he speaks from experience and provides a lot of good insight and advice for such a short article (2 minute read). In particular, he provides some guidelines on how to construct an HR policy and the wording you should have in that policy. I also liked his advice that if you are paying for any portion of the premium and are going to change/stop doing so, you should email, mail and registered mail notice to the employee of such change.

Are you struggling to understand all of the HR abbreviations in English? Many HR pros have the same struggle Abbreviations are short forms of a word or phrase that are commonly used to simplify communication A few examples are: FTE, EEO, PTO, LOA, PIP and the list goes on However, there are so many abbreviations that they can be hard to remember and hard to understand Instead of simplifying communication, abbreviations may leave the listener confused because they do not know what the abbreviation means To add to the confusion, abbreviations may not clearly translate from one language to another Instead of adding to the confusion, try this simple strategy to ensure that your listener clearly understands what you are talking about if you choose to use abbreviations And trust me, your listener's will thank you later for making things super clear! 😉 When using abbreviations in both speaking and writing, be sure to say the abbreviation then say what it stands for. Here are a few examples: ❌Our employees are entitled to 14 days PTO each year. ✅ Our employees are entitled to 14 days PTO (Paid Time Off) each year. ❌Our HR policy emphasizes the importance of EEO compliance. ✅ Our HR policy emphasizes the important of EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity) compliance. By simply adding what the abbreviation stands for clears up any doubt and removes confusion 💡 A bonus tip is if someone is using an abbreviation that you are not familiar with just ask, "What does [abbreviation] stand for?" There you go! Try this strategy this next time you’re using abbreviations in your next meeting or presentation! Let me know in the comments: What is a common abbreviation that you hear or use? Like. Comment. Share the knowledge! #RH #RecursosHumanos #ClearCommunication #Communication #RRHH #EngageLanguageLearning

Day 1 of 365: HR – Are We the Underpaid Superheroes? 🦸♀️🦸♂️ Ever wondered what HR actually does all day? So have I! 🤔 People say, "HR is overcrowded!" But is that true? Are we really getting paid enough for everything we do? 😅 Spoiler: NOPE. Maybe it’s because we’re out here negotiating salaries for everyone but ourselves! 🤦♀️ We’re so focused on others that we forget to check our own paychecks. Or maybe it’s that little fear whispering, “HR is just a back-office, clerical role.” Really? Is reducing turnover easy? 😬 And what about the chaos when someone doesn’t show up on their first day? 🫣 Or the oh-so-fun task of giving (or receiving) honest feedback? 😬 Don’t even get me started on how “simple” terminations are… 🙄 HR is NOT as easy as people think, but hey, we still make it happen! 💪 What do you think? How can we change the narrative? #HumanResources #HRLife #PeopleManagement #HRChallenges #WorkplaceInsights #CareerDevelopment #EmployeeExperience #HRTrends #HRCommunity #PayEquity #RecruitmentRealTalk #TurnoverTroubles #BehindTheScenesHR #HRGeneralist #WorkplaceCulture
