It felt like color war. Or maybe even a border war. Red vs. blue. Canada vs. the U.S. Each side (and boat) navigating its way into the jaws of the fearsome falls at Niagara 🌊 (we were staying on the Canadian side, hence the red poncho). No, there were no winners or losers. Nor was there any tension between the 2 sides, which are separated by a span of no more that few hundred yards (or meters, depending on which side you were on). Why? Because there is peace and mutual respect between the two countries. Now, just imagine if Israel could enjoy the same peace and mutual respect with all of its neighbors. How much more enjoyable and livable life would be for the people living on both sides! The problem, of course, is that while one side (Israel) seeks peace, the other side seeks endless struggle and conflict. Yes, there are problems between any two countries, which may explain the eternally long lines at the border on the way back home. But being neighbors can and should be built on trust (or at least civility), not hate. #border #niagarafalls #israelhamasconflict

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 | 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐄 • Hon. Sir António Guterres the Secretary—General of the United Nations The establishment of the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica by The Global Most Influential Powerhouse on the planet—Hon. Sir António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, marks a significant global initiative to remember the tragic events that unfolded in Srebrenica 29 years ago. This day serves as a solemn reminder of the failure of the UN and the international community to prevent the genocide that resulted in the systematic execution and burial of over 8,000 Bosnian Muslims in mass graves. The genocide in Srebrenica, regarded as one of the darkest chapters in recent history, highlights the severe consequences of inaction and apathy in the face of hatred and violence. It stands as a stark testament to the urgent need for combating division and intolerance, safeguarding human rights, and fostering mutual understanding and reconciliation in societies across the globe. The imperative of remembrance and accountability is underscored in ensuring that such heinous acts are never repeated. Honoring the victims of the Srebrenica genocide on this International Day of Reflection, the global community reaffirms its commitment to constructing a world free from the blight of genocide. It is a day dedicated to reflecting on the past, paying homage to the memory of the victims, and reiterating the collective responsibility to pursue justice and peace for all of humanity. Through the observation of this day, the world not only pays tribute to the lives lost in Srebrenica but also renews its dedication to crafting a future where the solemn vow of "never again" is honored. Through remembrance, education, and advocacy, efforts can be directed towards striving for a world where the teachings of history guide us in nurturing a more equitable, tolerant, and peaceful society for future generations. #UnitedNations #Srebrenica #Humanity #InternationalDay #HumanRights
Thursday is the first-ever International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica. The Srebrenica massacre marked one of the darkest chapters of the war that followed the breakup of the former Yugoslavia. Over 8,000 lives were lost, thousands of people were displaced and families and communities were devastated. “May the memory of Srebrenica strengthen our resolve to build a world free from the scourge of genocide —a world where justice and peace prevail, where ‘never again’ is a solemn promise fulfilled for all humanity,” said UN Secretary-General António Guterres. https://lnkd.in/eQdYwhqQ

The two people in Canberra represent the Commonwealth/ Approximately 100 Stolen Countries. Two people that continue to benefit financially because of one family in the world stealing Aboriginal lands around the planet. Two people that represent colonisation in Australia - 236 years of history on this continent. They are not your Royal Family, Australia. The only Royal Families in this Country with #SovereignRights are Aboriginal Peoples. How do you treat your true Royal Families from this continent? Turn a blind eye and therefore ignore the atrocities of a #British not Australian Family that you call "Royal"??? Two people visit Australia, and Australians embrace them knowing who they are and what they represent in this country's 236 year old story? Australians that recognise the British "Royal Family" (I would use another term to describe them...) are Not True Australians. Plain and simple. You must recognise the Sovereignty of Aboriginal Peoples. You are British (or wherever your ancestors come from) until you respectfully recognise Aboriginal Sovereignty.

#anyotherdayforaustraliaday Did you know on this day, March 16th in 1898 the representatives of five colonies adopt a constitution, which will become the basis of the Commonwealth of Australia. So it was today that Australia was born (as opposed to January 26th which marks the establishment of a British colony on these lands). Surely March 16th is a more appropriate day to celebrate Australia than January 26th!?! #anyotherdayforaustraliaday #especiallymarch16

Stop misusing religion! Religions are there to unite us and have the target to bring people together in oneness..... It are the human interpretations that make a mess out of this. We need nonviolent interaction as equals. This will lead to mutual understanding and empathy, it will exchange fear and hatred for trust and solidarity, and let humanity grow together in relation to God. www.samadeus.org & www.pax.ngo

"It is a sign of our return to our land and of Amihai Eliyahu, Israeli Minister of Heritage, explaining to his children how the red heifers will bring them purification. The red heifers represent a step towards constructing the Third Temple in place of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, an aim pushed by Israeli government-funded organisations.

DID YOU KNOW?! During the transatlantic slave trade, sharks became grim followers of slave ships crossing the Atlantic. The Middle Passage, the horrific voyage between West Africa and the Americas, saw millions of enslaved Africans endure appalling conditions. Crammed into overcrowded holds, many died from disease, malnutrition, and abuse. Captains, seeking to prevent the spread of illness or lighten their load, threw the dead or dying overboard. This created a grisly pattern: the bodies of enslaved Africans, along with waste from the ships, attracted sharks. These predators learned to follow slave ships, feeding on the human remains discarded at sea. Accounts from sailors describe the chilling sight of sharks trailing vessels for days, waiting for their next meal. Sharks, including tiger and white-tip species, were drawn by the consistent dumping of bodies. For some enslaved Africans, jumping into the ocean was an act of resistance, choosing death over captivity. However, even in death, they were not free; the ocean became their grave, and sharks, the silent witnesses. The haunting presence of sharks trailing slave ships is a testament to the brutality of the Middle Passage. It serves as a chilling reminder of the disregard for human life, where the ocean became a graveyard, and the sharks circled, anticipating the bodies of those who would never survive the journey. #BUILD #Leaders #Washington #Resilience #MiddlePassageSharks #SilentWitnesses #HistoryOfResistance #Remembrance

Peace is more than the absence of conflict—it’s the presence of understanding, respect, and unity. Today, as the Peace Bell rings at the United Nations Headquarters, we are reminded of our shared responsibility to nurture the conditions for global harmony. Let this call for peace resonate across borders and inspire action worldwide. #PeaceDay #UnitedNations #GlobalUnity #PeaceForAll #SDG16
Today, peace is under threat. But each of us can nurture the conditions needed for a peaceful world to flourish. Ringing the Peace Bell at the United Nations Headquarters in New York is a tradition to commemorate #PeaceDay. May the call for peace we make here ring out around the world. 📷: UN Photo/Mark Garten
